CC reader Stainsy Stainselstein was perusing Google Street View of his neighborhood to see what his neighbors were up to, when he came onto this accident scene just around the corner from his house. When he saw the little box on the lower right that said “Report a problem” he started dialing 911, until he realized the cops were already there. Just kidding…but too bad about these two nice green vintage CCs.
Google Street View Captures An Accident Involving Two CCs

the Lincoln’s rear suspension collapsed?
Too bad about that Lincoln Mark VIII.
It’s not my neighborhood, but I spotted a well kept 1973 Chevrolet Impala somewhere in Sherbrooke when the picture was taken in 2011. http://goo.gl/maps/kynJa
That 73 Impala, except this one looks like it has the funky colored Green Interior, ours was the tan color, is identical to one my Dad got brand new in in 1973. I got it from him in 79 and kept it around a year. When I sold it it had 140,000 + miles on it and never gave him or I any trouble except it sucked gas like crazy. Would hate to think of keeping that thing fed now. Can remember going on family vacations with my mom running it 90 down the interstate. It was so much more comfortable, and being our first car with AC, than the 67 Fury II it replaced. Would love to have that Impala now for sentimental reasons.
Makes you wonder how much the insurance company is going to be willing to pay for either of these.
…and why is my insurance premium still as high…if not higher…on my 12 year old car as it was when it was new? The value has not stayed the same…so? Only one minor claim and no tickets during that timeframe.
Because they can.
Exactly!
Most of the cost of insurance is liability. The risk of having a legally-liable accident does not generally change with the age of the car; it changes with driver; with region; with type of car. Not with its age.
What you’re mostly paying for, is to make good if the OTHER guy goes to the hospital; the chiropractor; the witch doctor; and then the ambulance chaser. You’re providing protection against your wrongdoing, alleged or factual. And protecting your savings and house against claims, real or fraudulent.
Both cars were totaled resulting in hundreds of dollars in damages….and nothing of value was lost….
JK.
And two cars I actually like 🙁
That stain on the pavement looks like a dragons shadow. wounder if it was waiting to make firey death to the cars.
It almost looks like one of those fake crashes I see in those car insurance ads where they position the cars against each other, unbolt components & sent them askew.
The only damage that can be seen here is the Sebring hood.
SET them askew (argh)
Actually they do film those in my hood. So if you watch tv or movies the entire area should look familiar.
Couple years ago, I watched them film a Midwest regional carriers commercial featuring a rigged Mazda 3, driven by a perfect couple, with a smashed in front end positioned next to a large Eucalyptus tree a couple blocks from here. Only real difference was about 3-4 large white camera trailers lining the street.
They’ve also filmed scenes for shows like The Office and Parks and Rec, and the recent movie about Steve Jobs, in the neighborhood.
This wasnt a film shoot however, because we would’ve received a notice of filming from the LA Film Comm.

It’s a shame for the owner of the Lincoln, but probably the best possible outcome for the owner of the Sebring. 🙂
I owned 1998 Sebring JXi Limited, similar to the one pictured, and I loved that car.
I am joking around a bit.
I never owned one, but family did. It was a neat convertible, but needed to have it’s engine replaced pretty early, IIRC.
Have always wanted a that-gen sebring. Driven a few and loved it. Chrysler were on a roll before the accursed “merger”
It looks like the Sebring took the worst of it. The Mark appears to have driven up onto the hood of the Chrysler. A new bumper cover, grille and headlight and it might be ready for the road again.
Of course the insurance companies would total both of them, but I think both could be fixed rather easily–unless the Sebring has an example of the dreaded “.7” engine family in it. Did any of the Sebring ‘verts get the 3.5?
My theory: the sebring slammed on the anchors and the lincoln didn’t.
