A sea of grey for sure. Luckily, the visitors’ classic rides in the Autotron’s backyard added a splash of color to a typical autumn day.
Here we have the 1965 Dodge brothers, a Dart 270 four-door sedan and a Dart GT two-door hardtop.
1976 Toyota Celica LT.
1966 Porsche 912. Not a single line too much.
1986 Renault 21 GTS (Medallion in the US and Canada).
1965 Opel Kadett A.
1973 Opel Kadett B Coupé. In the Netherlands, Opel Kadett -regardless the generation- was a synonym for best selling car, whereas Opel was a long-lived synonym for market leader.
1975 Alfa Romeo Giulia Nuova Super 1300.
1982 Citroën GSA.
1968 Peugeot 404 Coupé.
1979 BMW 633 CSI Automatic.
1986 Opel Rekord E2 2.2i CD, representing the final edition of the Rekord series. An Opel Rekord was considered a cheaper alternative to a Mercedes-Benz W115- and a (four-cylinder) W123-series. Where I live, anyway.
1972 Alfa Romeo 2000 GT Veloce, or simply GTV.
1974 Mercedes-Benz 350 SLC.
1973 DAF 33 Variomatic commercial van. A genuine three-door.
1973 Opel Manta A. One of the best looking Opels ever.
1971 Fiat 850 Familiare. A minivan in the true sense of the word.
1971 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE 3.5 Automatic. Internally already regarded as an S-Class Mercedes-Benz, prior to the introduction of the 1972 W116-series.
1966 Rover P5 Mark III 3 Litre.
1972 NSU TT. A short name for a short car.
1976 Opel Ascona B 1.6 two-door sedan.
1972 Volkswagen T2 single cab pickup with a canopy.
1975 Chevrolet Impala.
1953 Mercedes-Benz 170 Db (diesel).
1975 Fiat 132 GLS 1600. Not enough front and rear overhang, you say?
How about this 1976 Lincoln Continental Mark IV?
To be continued.
Hey, so that is where all the Darts are!?
However, I’ll take the Kadett B, the Manta, and either or both of the Alfas if you please. Cars I only caught a glimpse in the 70’s. For a long haul cruise down US 5 the Mercedes 280 SE will do. None of these have got to be easy to find parts for.
These are great .
It looks like the Kadett A shared it’s side glass with it’s Vauxhall contemporary , the Viva HA
Not just the glass, the substructure and floorpan etc were the same.GM dictated that the new small car Vauxhall had planned had to be based on the Kadett. Vauxhall had until this point no history of building a small car. This was however the thin end of the wedge as by the mid seventies all Vauxhalls were essentially Opels with a few tweaks.

The 404 coupe is spectacular. Worthy successor to the 403, an enormous work by Pininfarina.
I’m loving the cars and the straightforward but well composed photos. Thanks!! My favorites are the Manta for style, the Fiat van for around-town utility and its own type of style, and the Darts and the Giulia Berlina, just because.
Pictures 17 and 18 if I counted right: the blue Citroen GSA? What an interesting design, to put it kindly. Did you get the year of that one please?
We are looking forward to more galleries of these, and hopefully a feature photo of that blue 57-58 Plymouth, if possible.
Thanks for sharing these!
1982 Citroën GSA, as mentioned below the pictures.
Worth mentioning is that it was introduced in 1970, initially as the Citroën GS, thus predating the 1974 CX top model.

The DAF van is hopelessly cute! I want one.
Your search starts here:
1973 Opel Manta A. One of the best looking Opels ever.
Agreed, except without the vinyl. Never cared for vinyl on any vehicle.
But…but…a vinyl roof was a sign of pure wealth!
It’s practically an outdoor museum. Such a great variety and all in such great shape.
Love the DAF 3-door. And the Fiat 850 van. And…
Opels were such nice looking cars during this era. I’d forgotten just how terrific the Ascona B was. Chuck Jordan FTW!
I saw one of those Mercedes 170 D in a shed in Mareeba FNQ, engine was in pieces next to it, I thought it was a pre war car from the styling, that Opel styling soaked into GM products around the planet GMH and GMUK both copied it and mixed and matched the results, eventually they just stamped out the same cars with regional mechanical differences, Stupidly all three brands were sold here at various times with or without original badging.
Pre-war styling for sure, the design of that Mercedes-Benz dates back to the thirties.
Wow! Beautiful work Johannes. Thank you! Outstanding selections, and photos. As always. Love the variety, with so many intriguing contrasts.
The thoroughly out-of-place Conti, reminds me of this entertaining Thames TV critique of American cars from 1973.
What a great show – few trailer queens, all look like they are driven and enjoyed.
Always thought the Opel Manta was a well-styled car – but it gets more attractive as it gets older.
Thank you, Johannes ! I’ll take the Opel Manta A and Ascona B, plus the Fiat 850 mini minivan with a slightly bigger engine !
Questionable taste winner: ’75 Impala side striping.
