Update: two hours and not one guess? OK, here’s a slightly rearranged shot…
The Panhard was a very generous Clue, albeit of a seldom-seen car on this side of the pond–or anywhere! But we have plenty of overseas readers, and David P. got the lovely CD on the first try. Good job!
Tomorrow’s featured car was an amazing shade of sapphire blue. Will the color help you identify it?
Your archives maybe I’m going out to find one.
That’s a tough one. Not much to see from the picture but I’ll go ahead and say 1940s-1950s GM. Pontiac is what my non-educated guess is going to be.
’48-’53 or so (postwar body) and the hood shape isn’t right for anything GM, which had two-piece hoods with center trim or windsplits anwyay. Not right for GM or Chrysler either, so I’m going with one of the second-tier or third-tier automakers. Hood ornament reflection suggests its at least a mid-luxury car, so I’m going to guess (Kaiser) Frazer, ca. 48-50.
Also, I live in the US and have never seen a Panhard in person! But they’re extremely distinctive, even among contemporaneous French cars.
