The Mercedes W108’s little scoop, or whatever that is, was not discovered, at least in time. A certain orchestradirector made a correct guess, but at 8:25 AM. That CC went up sometime the night before. I can imagine someone finding the clue before they see the CC, but rules are rules. Oh well, you’ve already been acknowledged, so that’s a reasonable consolation.

(1st generation Prelude – 1979-1982)
Peugeot 505
Dang, he’s right! (Would’ve been hard to get the Golden Retriever into a Prelude!)
That Paul… he so funny… and knows his ’80s cliches!
As a kid in my upscale suburb of Columbus, Ohio in the ’80s, all the rich people had a Golden in a European wagon. Volvos usually, but this Peugeot is a more rarified taste – ’80s snob heaven! Get me some Izod and sockless docksiders!
At least this owner didn’t strap the dog to the roof of the wagon on a trip to Canada like Mitt Romney!
Viva la difference!
OK, I’ll concede, I may be wrong about the Prelude. But I’m sticking to my guns on the Golden.
That’s clearly a Golden Retriever.
(And the car? I’m going with 1st-gen Prelude. The 505 had a thicker, body-color B-pillar, at least early on. But the door handles do seem to be sourced from the same supplier.)
Gottabe a 505,too easy. I used to own a Gti once (2.2litre 130 hp). Incredible suspension, could engage speedbumps at any speed with ease π Quite roomy and incredibly tall compared to most other cars at the time. (didn’t need to jack it up to fix that exhaust…)
yep-505
Hafta agree 505 PUG
It is intuitively obvious that the dogs name is Francois, as his owner is obviously a Francophile.
And, Francois will wind up costing more over his 15+- year lifetime in food, vet bills, grooming, boarding, etc. than the 505 he is riding in did!
c’mon guys – isn’t there supposed to be a “no supporting pics” rule for CC clues? I was all set with my (plain wrong) guess of a Morris Marina (based on those door handles… but there’s no quarter light in the pic and the later Ital – which had no quarter light – used different handles…) and when I click through there’s a Pug 505 staring me in the face.
‘s like buying a newspaper with the crossword already filled in π
… even if I wasn’t going to get 15 down, half the fun’s in the headscratching
You’re right. Vance, are your listening? I suspect he’s a newbie to the game of Clue; we’ll give him a second chance.
