Lots of kudos to spread around: Richard Bennett took a guess on the ZX2, and was right. XR7 Matt pegged the Olds 98 pronto. And it wasn’t really a Clue, but the Hiding Under the Junk post became a protracted guessing game, and Googootz was first with calling it a ’76 Dodge Colt. Let’s see who goes for this gold.

Opel Kadett B, 1965-73
Or whatever brand the Kadett was sold as in the US, I recall some Opels being branded as Buicks.
Greetings from Germany – wish I could guess more often, but with American makes being so rare hereabouts I’m usually at a loss.
Agreed on the Kadett B. Probably an early one, as later US-export models got a specific front fascia.
Agreed, its a Kadett
DAMIIT!
the first stinkin’ clue I got a bead on and I’m a distant second!!!! GRRR!
Opel Kadett.
:-p
And by merely 2 minutes! Lucky me, I was scrambling for my password till I finally remembered.
Headlights and that crease around them are a dead giveaway.
🙂
If it ain’t a Kadett, then 1st gen English (Ford) Escort. Not an American/North American sold car post ’68 (didn’t see any marker lamps).
Just for fun I’m going to say ’70-’75 Opel Ascona (or 1900 if this was taken in the US).
there are a few things this resembles but little touches are missing from each the above guesses all could be correct other than MK1 Escort but it missing certain details Hb Viva, Kadette. Torana, is as close as I can get yet there are swage lines not in the clue that should show up.
Looks more like a Chevy Nova from around 1975.
If it’s not the little Opel, then it’s the Opel’s less desirable cousin, the Chevy Vega.
Chevy Nova mid to late 60s if the cresta is a preamble
