Well, the antenna looks like an aftermarket item to me, so… Isn’t that cheating? Show us a car with a stock antenna! It looks like an American car from the early 60’s. Let’s see… American cars from the 1960’s that were notorious for coming from the factory with inadequate radio antennas? I think Mr. Bill’s right about it being a Comet, most likely a 1963. Who can forget the Comet Antenna scandal of 1963? I think Nader devoted most of one chapter in his book to that particular scandal.
Guess often I do, to little avail.
You nerds on CC are beyond the pale.
So I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll shout my out my line:
A Dacia Sandero, in right-hand drive.
So we’re nerds at CC? Well this may be true
But when the mystery’s revealed it’s you who’ll be blue
A Dacia Sandero, in right-hand drive?
It’s a Comet for sure, quite old but alive
This picture almost puts off an Italian sort of vibe. Like a Michelotti designed Triumph, or Fiat.
Though I must concur with the others here, 1963 Mercury Comet is my guess too.
I have no idea what it is,if it’s a Comet I ought to recognise it as I had a 64 4 door sedan & my sister had a 62 but this was 30 years ago and my memory isn’t what it used to be.
Well, I’ve never seen a Comet in person (too young, too far away), but I thought BMW ’02 at first too. The chrome trim on the hood seemed to fit (my decontented 1502 didn’t have that though); but the flanks on the side of the hood should be a bit more vertical. And the lower chrome trim doesn’t really fit, I think the ’02s had a combination rubber/chrome trim piece there. I think the antenna design looks sorta right, I just can’t seem to remember where that was placed on the BMW. So anyway, probably not an ’02 after all, so I guess all those folks saying it’s a, what, Comet? must be right.
My first inclination, before I read any comments, was that it was a Ford product circa 1963 or 64. As others have suggested, I believe it’s a 1963 Mercury Comet.
Mercury Comet – 60-63 years…
+1 Comet for sure
Given all the brightwork, I’m going to guess it’s not just any Comet, but a 1963 S-22.
Chevrolet Corvair?
I thought original 1960-63 Corvair at first sight too. Probably a ‘700’ , the higher end model as if that was possible!
It has to be a BMW 2002!
I was also thinking early Corvair, but the fender lip really bulges, and I’m not recognizing that lower piece of trim… I don’t know now

MGB.
I’m going to say ’63 Comet too due to the fact I haven’t found any examples of the lower piece of trim being present on the earlier models.

I’m goin’ with ’63 Comet.
At first glance, I immediately thought Volvo 144 or so, but realized it’s not brick enough for that. 🙂
Otherwise, have no other clue but looking at it further, it DOES look American, that’s for sure.
That’s definitely a Comet, with that lower chrome molding it’s also definitely a ’63.
Don’t forget, we’re not supposed to post photos in reponse to the clue – kind of kills the fun for the rest of us! 🙂
The rule is not too much certitude, and no pictures. Others may still want to play. Thanks!
What about Ottomobill :D???
My bad… (snitch) 😉
1972
1967-1975 Volvo 140 series (volvo kept the same body style each year
I had 1972 145 wagon yet this may be the sedan 144 = 4 door & 142 = 2 door
Bimmer 1600 or 2002?
Those are the two I thought of too, Comet and BMW 2002… I think its a 61 comet.

Studebaker Lark just to be different.
