Ford actually built two versions of headlamps: one with composite headlamps and other with four rectangular sealed beam headlights. The latter was done in case NHTSA hadn’t approved the composite headlamps in time for the model year 1984. A rather expensive gamble well-paid off…
In a couple of episodes from TV serial, Dallas, you could see J.R. Ewing driving a pre-production Mark VII with four rectangular headlamps.
