Well no-one found Tom’s 1976 Cadillac Coupe de Ville at the bottom of a Cracker Jack box yesterday. What about today’s CC Clue? It’s not a Cadillac – or is it? There’s a decent-sized hunk of metal, plastic, chrome, paint (some minus its clear-coat) and badly-applied silicon sealer for you to cast your eyes over. Small hint: the make was (and is) sold worldwide, this particular model not so. So CC Commentariat, what say you?
Frameless windows and in NZ, I’m going to guess Subaru Impreza.
You’re right, the glass is frameless. Or is it? 😉
Looks vaguely Honda-ish. That bodyside molding reminds me of the 1990-1993 North American Accord. Although the frameless windows would point otherwise. I’m going to say it’s a Honda Vigor.
A ford sierra cosworth? A merkur xr4ti ? A close relative?
We don’t have that amber light here in USA, but everything else screams Audi to me. Late 80’s / early 90’s.
Saab 900 had that amber light
Looks similar to a Saab 9000
+1 SAAB 9000
That was going to be my first guess, but I don’t think it quite matches.
C4 Audi 100
Interesting range of guesses, keep ’em coming!
Cryptic clue: that door was sold in the USA, but the rest of the car it’s attached to wasn’t!
So that means, probably, something that shared a platform with a US-market vehicle, but was a brand or a model we didn’t get.
Ford Laser?
lancia thelma fiat chroma
The repeater looks Nissan to me but given the vast array of oddball cars NZ has that nobody else got I cant place it.
The door clue really adds to the mystery, but I’ll go ahead and say that the orange peel fender compared to the door makes me sure it’s been in a crash.
Yes, ’twas indeed in a minor crash and repaired. Not sure why the clear coat was missed when it was fixed!
Holden Apollo?
So one of the guesses above is so close I’m going to award that person a grand prize! (NB grand prize may not exist). If it’s any help, I bought the pictured vehicle earlier this year, and have deliberately not mentioned it here on CC! And despite my unadulterated love of elderly Nissan Laurels, it isn’t a Nissan!
is it a…
Honda Ascot?
That’s a type of cap isn’t it? Pretty sure my Grandad wore one!
Toyota Lexcen
Saab 9000 cd or 95,
It’s an Ascot. It’s got an Accord’s pillar, but “special” side moldings.
early 1990s Honda Inspire
