It was a swing and a miss for our normally astute commentariat on the last clue. But I suppose that some of you would consider it a badge of honor to NOT be able to identify a Granada from close up.
But we here at CC being the forgiving and generous chaps that we are, let’s all have another try, shall we? Hopefully this one will better reflect our collective sensibilities. And forget the car, I want to know what color this is. And yes, I have seen the whole car and still am not sure.
Red (faded).
It doesn’t look like my old ’84 Sierra, but I’m convinced it must be! It definitely looks like one of the 11 different shades that Ford’s Monza Red paint changes into (on the same car natch) under New Zealand’s harsh sunlight (thin ozone layer overhead and all that).
70’s Chevy van??
I know it’s not because they don’t wraparound, but my first thought is ’90s GMC Sierra/Yukon.
Some type of VW Beetle-based kit car?
My guess, GM step van. The commercial unit like bakeries and such use.
I’ll guess “GM” only because their red-spectrum paints always seemed to fade/peel so badly…
I’ll agree with the step van possibility, or something similar. Note the cracks in the paint running out from the corner of the light. Whatever it is vibrates a lot and the unsupported bodywork in that area must resonate somewhat there.
310 GX
Aussie Hillman Hunters had double tail lights something like those but of course youd never find one in the US and they wouldnt a faded so neatly.
The color and texture of the plastic suggests Euro to me… German or Czech. The placement of the parking light in the body looks like part of an IH Metro-van. But TWO parking lights on a side? I’m stumped.
A bumper car at a fun fair?
