We shall gather here again tomorrow at this same time and place to pay our respects. In the meantime, the make is obvious to many, some will know the model, a few the year, and what about the color? Bow thy heads, ponder, and submit your offering below.
Mk.II Cortinas in ‘Silver Fox’ used to peel like that (often within a couple of years of purchase, unfortunately). I note that in 1968 (i.e. same time) Lincoln Continentals could be had in ‘Foxcroft Silver’. Now wouldn’t that be a co-incidence if that peeled too?
Ummm, 1967 Continental, Arctic White
Total guess 🙁

Yes, from some 1961 to 1965 Lincoln. The rebodied 1966 didn’t have the emblem on the broad C pillar, and after that the emblem got skinnier.
It’s more cars from 1980 to 1990 that peeled though, I think because manufacturers switched to more environmentally friendly paints and some didn’t work out. You used to see a lot of peeling Tauri, not to mention the roof of my light blue metallic 1988 Horizon (but not the body). After about eight years it was peeling, so I kept wetting the edges with soapy water and kept peeling it until it was all peeled. Then I sprayed it with some Walmart truck/RV paint that was really cheap and came in big cans and almost perfectly matched. Unfortunately I couple months later I rolled it and I was beyond the blue Horizon.
“beyond the blue Horizion” Have you no shame?
As I recall, manufacturers went from volatile organic compound (VOC) paint to water-based paint. However, they used a primer that either was the same for VOC paint or otherwise incompatible with the water-based paint.
I think they have it figured out by now. At least I hope they did.
Going by the proportions of the logo/emblem and the length of the spears, I’m thinking that we’re looking at a 1973 or 1974 Lincoln Continental. Color is gold, which has faded.
1964 as I recall was the first year they offered a lighter silver metallic, prior to that it was darker. Loved the boxed star back then.
OK I’ll take a shot, 1963 Lincoln Continental in White.

’56 Continental?
