Since we’re doing oddballs today, here’s one more. Just needs a bit more wood on the body sides, to integrate that fine wood bed. Posted at the Cohort by canadiancatgreen.
Cohort Outtake: Capriceamino, Woody Brougham Edition
– Posted on June 28, 2018
I keep looking at every one of these entries today trying to see if it has the paint tray hood scoop signature mod that would confirm it to be Saunders’ entry for the next rally…
Seems like a remix more than a conversion…bigger trunk and smaller back seat than standard, made even smaller by the roof chop, but still basically a sedan with that hard cover made of the same material in the same style as the “truck” extension
I’m more interested in that late ’70s Subaru DL behind it!

Go big or go home.
Wow. Just wow. I really hope that the creative people that do this kind of stuff start with something beyond a real restoration and not a pristine car
Nice Woody.
But look at that Subaru. And Maserati Merak. And Bricklin. My kind of car show!
I am…speechless
This isn’t a very good example but, honestly, I thought the new, downsized 1977 B-body would have been a better fit for the half-car/half-truck El Camino than the downsized 1978 Malibu.
With the quarter windows intact I’d say this is more of a Coupe Ute than El Camino.
I am always kind of amazed at how resourceful some people are. The tail gate and tonneau cover look pretty good from this angle. The wood on the sides may hide myriad mistakes from the sawz all! It would have been easier to buy a beater truck, but I guess it wouldn’t be as much fun.
The ultimate Broughamification: El Camino Grande Brougham Club Coupe!
While the wood bed is a different approach to this modification, I have seen no less then 20 different box Caprice or Caddy Brougham pickup truck mods in the last 10 years. Most have a metal tailgate and most were seen in ether the parking lot at Carlisle car shows or inside the grounds.
I think I can top that: Presenting for 1971, the Chevy Vute!
I don’t recall where I found this pic. I believe this was a factory concept.
Don’t like Vute? How about the Vega Kramback, Chevy La Calle, or Via Vega?
What a coinkydink; I just saw this on r/WeirdWheels:
This is so very wrong…
