In Denmark pick-up conversions of these were relatively common, the reason being that they could then be registered as commercial vehicles lowering the registration tax considerably (registration tax on personal cars was 180% on top the car itself at the time). E and S class Mercedes and Porsche 928 were the other really popular conversions.
