! are they all this small ? .
I see SMARTS in traffic now and then but this thing is rdiculous .

Yes. The big wheels and tires make the body look relatively smaller.
Thanx Paul .

This is presumably (hopefully) an ironic take on the overwhelming popularity of jacked up SUVs and CUVs with big wheels and tires and roof racks and cargo boxes and…
Now if it had a rooftop foldout tent, I’d really be impressed.
I wonder how its performance is affected by those big tires? It can’t be a good thing in that regard.
He’s missing the shiny hi-lift jack and gazillion watt LED bar on the hood but he does have the winch.
I’m guessing this’ll get farther down the trail than the Murano in front of it. It may now have the best approach and departure angles ever seen while still retaining bumpers.
You could pop open the cargo box, lay out the sleeping bag, snuggle in, and pull the top down. There’s your rooftop (hard-side) tent. Add some chiffon and satin trim inside while dressed in a suit and you may get the best and longest sleep ever.
You’re being very generous with the term “winch”. In spying it further I see he does have an LED light bar under it too.
“Safari Style” is a hot trend, I’ve seen Mazda Miatas like this too. This one looks to nice for Gambler 500 duty. Mercedes Streeter (formerly of Jalopnik and currently at The Autopian) is a Smart and has done Gambler 500s with Smarts.
An ‘off-road’ version might have helped make them slightly more viable, when new. As I mentioned with a previous Smart Fortwo article, these were the car to have if you wanted to look hip and environmentally-conscious, when first introduced in Canada almost 20 years ago now. Nobody then, talked about other more spacious cars costing less to buy and run. Assuming, because it is bright red, it is not being used for hunting.
Someone put a Smart body shell on an ATV. Comfy (and smart)!
Not quite this extreme, but last week I saw a lifted Buick Encore on mud tires, or at least very aggressive all-terrains. I would have snapped a picture but the driver had stepped out and was standing next to it chatting with a neighbor. I’m used to this look on Subaru’s and the occasional RAV4, or on old Golf’s or Corolla’s, more in the Gambler 500 style, but this Buick looked totally incongruous. It was spotlessly clean.
This would be an absolute blast driving through snow or mild overlanding. Highway speeds have got to be sketchy due to that higher center of gravity.
If you’ve ever experienced a ride in one of these, you know it’s not a good one. This one I can only imagine how horrible a ride in this one would be.
I like it! Almost most assuredly it is not, but if it’s actually 4WD like it would suggest, please tell me where to buy one. If it’s just another front wheel drive that loses traction when going uphill due to weight transfer, uh, it’s then just cool looking and I want nothing to do with it.
