The Renault Wind the other day was a new one for me, and I’d certainly never seen one. I am quite aware of the Alpine 110’s existence, but have never seen one in the flesh. Benoit shot and posted this 110 Pure at the Cohort, so I thought I’d share it in case you’re in the same boat.
Apparently the 110 has enjoyed a reputation for being quite the ball to drive, on the road or the track. It’s a lightweight aluminum mid-engine coupe, with a turbocharged 1.8 L feeding into a 7-speed dual clutch manumatic transmission. The engine is rated at 252 PS (249 hp), but there’s also a hotted up 110S that ups that to 292 PS (288 hp), along with enhanced suspension, wheels and tires. It scoots from 0-100 kmh (0-62 mph) in 4.4 seconds, but then regular version does it in 4.5, hardly a laggard.
Here’s a couple of other shots, since Benoit only posted this one:
We have some fine articles on previous generations of Alpines:

Nice, the regular one would do .1 of a second doesnt matter to me.
I had a friend who was super-big into this when he was cross-shopping RX-7’s and Supras in the early-to-mid 1990s. I finally shut it down with the simple statement “Where in your day-to-day life will you ever notice the 0.2 sec difference between those two?”
Yeah, he drives a Camry now.
According to the British magazine CAR, and electric version of this car is well under development.
The electric motor(s), it’s all wheel drive, will develop 350 horsepower.
Car will debut about 2025.
The Alpine brand will be EV-only about 2025. That includes a retro R5 hot hatch and -what else- an SUV.
To my middle aged mind a manual is a prerequisite for a sports car, regardless of
empirical performance implications.
This thing looks like a hoot to drive just standing still! Just beautiful… And no, I wasn’t aware of these myself.
Saw one for the ffirst time a couple weeks ago. Very nice car. Used ones are still pretty pricey right now, but if they become cheaper I would consider buying one. An absolute future classic.
Recaptures the shape of the R8 Alpine, especially on the front. Proper homage.
Interesting and what does it cost?
The profile, roofline and “C” pillar placement remind me of 1995-1999 Buick Riviera.
This is my favorite oddball under the radar enthusiast car. You can drive it all day long and only gearheads will notice it. No boy racer wing and no faux air ducts!!! Most women who notice it will say its very pretty and looks like fun so they won’t automatically think your a posing db. It is well respected among its pears yet is relatively affordable. Once they hit 35-40,000 miles my guess is they’ll easily be less than $40k. While that’s not a reality for me it’s a steal for how rare and cool it is. The 0-60 in 4.5 seconds would be enough to make me giggle every time I put the hammer down.
That’s lovely. Didnt\’t even know it existed!
These unquestionably-able little pockets are one of my great disappointments of late.
I so love the original A-110 that it seems my eyes tricked me when I looked hungrily at pictures of this incarnation, and told me it was as good.
But it just isn’t.
One lives right near to me, and made flesh, it is borderline dull, a warty-face 6th gen Celica with a Porsche backside. I nearly mistook it for something new from China, a sort-of derivative collection of the ideas of others.
I would, naturally, take a free one. Actually, I’d have too – the price in Australia is gigantic.
