What a great shot indeed and thanx for sharing! I love finding these Advance Design trucks wherever my travels take me in the Pacific Northwest. I visited Eastern Oregon for my 30th birthday, saw a few of these trucks, and this find in Pendleton made the weekend even better.
This is an excellent image. Just the simple extra touch of turning the truck’s wheels, gives the scene a feeling of action. And it poses the truck.
I remember being very pleasantly surprised when my parents moved to the country in the summer of ’74, and a handful of these ancient work trucks from the 40s and 50s were still to be found on the job. As farm trucks, a municipal truck, and a water truck. The county still had a 50s era highway line painting truck that reminded me of the one below. The water well drilling trucks were all dated from the early 50s.
Great shot. I’ve owned 6 of the Advanced design Chevys between the ’48 – ’53 years. all of them old wheat/grain trucks. The 4100 series was unique in that it was a 1-1/2 ton on a short wheel base. I’ve heard the AD Chevy’s referred to as the Model T’s of the mid century, which I believe is true.
Try reducing the file size. When I post photos here, I reduce the size to no more than 1,200 pixels in the bigger dimension – and it always loads then.
Great shot, of a truck that has obviously earned its keep many times over during the years.
In the foreground that looks like a stake and ropes used to hold up a big tent, so maybe that is what the reflection in the window is.

That’s a great photo, and a cool old truck. I marveled at it when it showed up in the Cohort.
