It’s one of those things where I have to do a double take to really figure out what the hell is going on. It looks decent though. If it’s real, and I can’t really tell ifit is. Something seems off.
Yes! Blue like that one. Thanks for posting the link.
The RS tail lights in the tailgate look good, but would prevent using the bed with the tailgate down. It is a truck, after all & I’d want to keep as many options to use it that way as possible.
Still, a minor nitpick. Wouldn’t kick it out of my garage!
Came here to post this. I recently saw this episode. During the build, I was thinking that “Nope, that’s not gonna work… gonna look off”. But damn, that finished product was amazing.
I’m wondering if the original post was inspired by the Overhaulin episode to recreate it.
That’s just wrong to me. The proportions make it look beady eyed because the 1st gen Camaro is much smaller. Also the era mismatch bothers me. I’m OK with putting contemporary GM G body noses on these to make a Grand Prix-amino or Regal-Grand National-amino especially with a division correct engine swap. I think even a 2nd or 3rd gen Camaro nose might work although this generation has more in common with the Monte Carlo.
The tasteless crap that customized do to vehicles never ceases to amaze me. The last generation ElCamino is a handsome vehicle. I miss my ’81 that I bought new and served me well for 10 years. Tacking on that lame 60s Camaro front clip and the useless skinny bumpers is dumb; looks horrible! It’s getting harder and harder to find clean unmolested ElCaminos from that vintage, and it’s sad that so many of them have been put through the ringer being destroyed by hotrodders and tasteless customizers.
I kind of like it, but being the original owner of my ’79 Malibu, I would never do that to the front end of mine.
Many years ago I used to see a 1966 Buick Special from a neighboring town that had the front clip from a ’67 Firebird grafted on. The door and fender line matched up pretty weell, but the front end looked short and pinched when compared to the rest of the car. It really put emphasis on the Firebirds beak. This was not a custom. I always thought that the guy wrecked the Buick and had a junk Firebird in the same color lying around so he used the parts.
Part of me hopes that’s a Photoshop, but I think maybe it isn’t. I like it either way.
Make mine dark metallic blue, please!
I’ll go on record as saying I like this.

I have reached the age where there is not much to be seen that is actually new. This is new. And I find it strangely appealing.
Nicely done.
I wouldn’t mind this front treatment on a ’78-’81 Malibu coupe either; the boxy front end is the worst looking part of an otherwise handsome car.
Deftly Done.
This isn’t that first one to be done…

Oddly, the Camaro part looks meek and mild in this context. Less bold than the original El Camino.
You’re right. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but I think the clip is slightly undersized, maybe only 5%, but as a result it looks a little timid.
Wow, that looks pretty neat.
Somehow it works!
I agree with the other posters – It works and I like it!
That’s surprisingly not horrible, the more I look at it the more I like it. Bonus points for the door handle change.
