It’s cute!
This was the big FIAT city car of the ’60s, the FIAT 500 being almost ten inches shorter. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a FIAT 600 in the US. The iconic post-war FIAT 500s are popular as promotional vehicles for Italian Bistros and the like. The 850s were sold here in three body styles until the 128 and X1/9 took their place. The 600 and 126 never seem to get much attention in North America. I wonder how this one wound up here?
I posted a 1950’s photo of a 600 in California last week, and I think they weren’t totally uncommon during the first import boom of the Fifties. The 126 was never sold here.
In my middle school years, I remember walking home from school past a house with one of these Fiats in the back yard. But parked on the street out front were two of my favorite cars: a bullet-nose ’51 Studebaker Commander and a slippery looking Auto Union DKW 3=6. Neither had been run for many years, and then one day they were all gone…
I appreciate the effort, but in my HOA has rules regarding inoperable cars being stored outside.
If you REALLY want to p*ss them off, leave your trash cans out!
