Cruising through the Cohort, these two screen shots by Colin Ciolli caught my attention. They’re screen shots from the movie “Dumb and Dumber”, and Colin noticed the stretch Grand Wagoneeeeer in the back ground. But we’ve just seen what looks like the identical vehicle here a couple of weeks ago, shot in the Netherlands by Corey Behrens. A new variation of the CC Effect™?
Here’s another screenshot from the movie.
Does anyone know if there was more than one of these made? I suspect it’s a one-off, and found its way to the Netherlands, perhaps to the home of a “Dumb and Dumber” fan.
Hard to tell with the oversaturated colors in the movie shot, but the one in the movie appears to be white, not brown. The brown body on Corey’s pic is almost the same as the Di-Noc, so it probably wouldn’t look much brighter even when overlighted.
After looking up Internet Movie Car Database®, I found the photo that’s not oversaturated and bit fuzzy. I don’t think it’s same Jeep due to light blue colour and certain differentiating details.
The silver trims in the stretched portion have opera lights or vertical markings in the film and are also much wider than in this abovementioned Jeep.

Just saying…
There’s a better shot of the “Dumb and Dumber” stretch Jeep on imdb.com, and it shows the color to be a light steel blue.
I found it with a Google Image Search of “stretch Jeep Wagoneer”, which yielded at least half a dozen such stretches. That implies there were more than a handful built back in their day. I remember seeing a few and looking back, they were the grandfather of today’s stretched Escalade limos.
I’m betting a few were made, that was an Aspen scene which in reality was filmed in Breckenridge Colorado where they may have been used to shuttle tourists to the various ski resorts. Possible this might have been one of the fleet or at least from the same coach builder.
I’ve never seen one of these in the flesh. The closest was this Cherokee stretch spotted in 1989. As I recall. two were made on speculation by a local Toronto AMC dealer, and they were tough to move.
I think I remember one in Bob Bannerman way back in the day
I think there were numerous Grand Wagoneer limos built, as others have said above, often for wealthy western resorts and the like. I’ve found various sources that have said anywhere from 6 to 60 built, though probably by different coachbuilders.
I’d love to find some original documentation from the companies that actually converted these, but so far I haven’t found anything.
Here’s a link to one that was for sale recently (stated in the ad to have been used new in Jackson Hole, Wyo.) — lots of interior photos in the ad too:
