Foden Alpha posted these shots of a fintail Mercedes 200 that is riding a bit low.
The negative camber from the rear swing axles is very apparent.
Even the fronts are showing the camber change that is typical of a SLA (Short arm, Long arm) front suspension.
To each his/her own, but I will never understand why folks do this to car, what is the purpose behind this modification ?
But then, I also don’t understand why folks decided to do a ” wrap ” that made their car look like it was covered in stainless steel or chrome.
That’s a Pretty Heckflosse, too bad they’ve ruined it .
Lowering per se isn’t bad, it’s the lack of safe control that results from trash like this .
In the early 1990’s some kids in my hood had a couple of these they slammed, being the oldest part of town the streets were very uneven and had deep dips at most intersections for rain runoff, you could hear the poor things grinding away .
One they cut the roof off to make a four door convertible…
This one looks very nice, if they ever drive it I wonder how long it will last .

If it has air bags or hydraulics that would elevate it while in motion…
Otherwise, and I realize it’s his/her car, but it’s so WRONG!
+1
For once, I’m thankful our roads are too old and bumpy to allow this. There was one crowned, hilly intersection that had so many scrapes and oil drips that they repaved it.
Pretty car! I’m not big on dropping it to the ground, but at least the owner left the body stock.
This makes me sad.
Other people spoil everything.
Of all the cars they could do this to….. just wrong.
Man, tough crowd posting on this………I like it, but then I ran my W123 dropped 4+ inches when I was in my 20s as well. It scraped over everything, Good Times! You can all rest easy, it is back to a more conventional ride height with wagon springs….I now use it on fire roads and such to get to trail heads.
It looks bagged, there are a few bagged fintails on the ol’ youtube…search and get more excited at owners doing things to their own cars?!?! Kidding of course, yes to each their own live and let live etc,.
Hope its on airbags or they going to be replacing floor pans real soon.
Hope it goes faster than stock……
Looks excellent rebuild or resto.
Yes my cars are now raised from stock.
Last lowered car took out radiator and fuel tank.
I’ll be a lone voice in the wilderness, but I think static fintails look fabulous lowered! Caveat: as long as it’s via airbags and it can rise up to a sensible level to drive.
Why would anyone take this gem and mess it up? The exterior looks terrific.
It could, ofcourse, just be a sweet 200 that belongs to a family who are all underweight-non-challenged, and whose collective avoirdupois has permanently lowered it.
The Fintail is not a high point of car design, so to leave a suspension-scrunched one parked as a sort of temporary sculpture for all to wonder at doesn’t harm it any. In forget-me beige and black and otherwise plain as only a later low-line Fintail can be, it’s also as good-looking a sculpture as a Fintail will ever be, so I’ll side with liking the thing.
Anyway, in airbagged reality, when it de-sculptures itself upon the return of the owner, it will undoubtedly rise to the (driving) occasion.
The rear end ‘fintails’ recall the `59 Rambler. Nice cars, both of them.
