All they need are people with love and MONEY to restore them! What a collection! Can anyone identify the red car with the spare tire in the right front fender and the car to the right of it?
“In my day, the mechanics were really mechanics. These young kids have never known what to do without some machine tellin’ ’em. If only I could find someone who could pour me some bearings and and fix these old wooden wheels.”
Recently some hipsters jerkhoffs in my old Mercedes club began giving me sh*t because I like all professional Mechanics, adjust wheel bearings by hand ~ he’d read in the factory shop manual that you’re supposed to use a dial indicator so naturally he doesn’t maintain his wheel bearing at all because he doesn’t have (nor know how to use) a dial indicator .
Scraping poured Babbitt bearings is a lost art ~ I’ve not done it in forty years now .
These old relics need cover, at least a shade roof .
Scraping babbit bearings is still done just not little ones in car engines, We used to scrape bearings for 12inch thick steam turbine main shafts and cast them if they were to far gone, moulds for the odd vintage engine being restored could also be accomodated, That particular power house is still operating 50 years after its planned retirement forecast,, so someone is still overhauling the ancient turbines.

I have 1928 Ellie Mae Clampet flat bed rust bucket and must sell 1959 English Ford Harry Potter car. Have other old cars like 1955 pink station wagon and 1951 pickup.

Wow!! Some of those might be worth big bucks given the rare parts they could donate to the restoration and upkeep of other cars of their era.

If you “must” go by the book, set aside some pride & pick up a dial indicator at Harbor Freight. Might set ya’ back about 15 bucks?
I didn’t say _I_ don’t have and know how to use, dial indicators, they’re critical in VW engines, used to set the crankshaft end float .
It was the jerkhoff kid who doesn’t understand who doesn’t have one .
I have both magnetic and clamp based dial indicators as I find the different mounting helps on different jobs .

I was referring to the jerkhoff kid. A thousand apologies for my poor wording!
