A sight increasingly rare to find around CC’s pages or elsewhere; a bonafide unrestored hunk of GM A-body goodness from the ’60s. This time, a Buick Skylark, with its nicely shaped and weathered hips in display.
No restorer has come around to rescue this one yet?
Nope. Instead, it looks like the perennial “no-work in progress” project. In the meantime, someone clearly worried water doesn’t seep in through that missing window. But elsewhere, I do see a bit of tin worm by the rear wheel arches and bottom quarter panels.
Will this one ever see the road again? Maybe?
What can’t be denied is that it does make for a really cool piece of lawn ornament.
Related CC reading:
My uncle was an insurance agent that visited various companies and factories to check for compliance. He was issued a “company car” every two years or so. I remember one of these was a new tannish gold ’67 Skylark just like this coupe. It had black interior and was a nice car. It replaced a ’65 BelAir and was itself replaced by a ’69 Satellite. All three I am sure are long, long gone, yet I still remember them well.
I assume this is in a cheesy neighborhood. What a dump.
In some neighborhoods the more old appliances on the front porch the better. However, having a BUICK beats ’em all!
That’s a ’66 model, isn’t it? I’d have to be able to see the front grille to confirm, but from the back it looks like 1966.
No, this is a ’66.
This Skylark is missing the rear fender skirts that Buick added for ’67, and that is a good thing (in my opinion).
Yes, the ’67 has the taillights inset slightly into the bumper; I prefer the ’66 with its taillights completely above bumper level.
Second photo from the end – that exposed roofline sure reminds me a lot of a same year Corvair Monza. Similar angles, similar upkick on the quarter panel. Part of the GM look that year.
Thicker C pillar on the Buick mind you.
Truly a dump .
That Buick doesn’t look too far gone to me .
