You’ve undoubtedly experienced frustrating slow-downs and time-outs accessing the site. It’s even worse trying to get work done in the back end. We’ve tinkered with various parts to little or no avail, so I’ve hired professionals to give us a proper overhaul. The Word Press theme we’ve been using is essentially obsolete, and is not being updated much more. We’re switching to a new theme, and doing a bit of all-round freshening up. Nothing dramatic, but the site will be easier to read, navigate, and most of all, be faster. That’s the primary goal, naturally. My apologies to everyone, but the switch-over is just days away.
CC Engine Swap Imminent
– Posted on October 4, 2013
So you’re ditching the slant-6 for a hopped-up smallblock. How very un-CC-like of you. 😉 At least it’s not a SBC.
…And SN-95 Mustang rims too?!?! Heresy!!!!
Paul, no apologies needed. It’s worth some waiting to get my daily dose of CC.
Thanks, but those of us waiting interminably for pictures to upload while trying to create content are getting mighty impatient. It’s worse than the front page.
What is that? My first thought was Rambler American, but with the obvious Mopar sidelight and mirror this must be an A-body of some sort.
+1 for C’s comment. Yeah it’s a bit slow, but I never minded waiting for CC.
1968 Plymouth Valiant
It’s very similar to the 1969 Signet coupe I had – same color, identical body, just minor trim differences. My car was a factory 318 4-speed, and got down the road just fine as it was.
That sounds awesome to me. Did you ever read about The Green Brick Valiant, of One Lap of America fame?
Looking forward to the “engine swap” A GM 3.6L has a lotta pop, but anything less than a big honkin’ V8 would be a waste of time.
Make sure it has headers!
I never though I would say that I’m looking forward to a crate motor, but bring it on. 🙂
Once we get the engine room up to speed, we can talk about the company cars and health insurance I presume?
The kinds of company cars we’d get here boggles the mind.
hah! That would be epic.
Company cars? I’m issuing everyone a Slim Jim and a few other small tools and instructions so that you can each drive the Curbside Classic of your dreams.
As to health insurance, that’s a kind of a touchy subject right now….but if you start walking to find CCs, I’m sure you won’t need it anyway. It’s mostly worked for me so far……Niedrmeyercare.
Good! For a minute, I was afraid that this morning’s 64 Bel Air was going to get picked up and assigned to me. I’m only 5’10”, so I am probably not tall enough to see over the steering wheel in one of these. Now that I know we are on the self-help program, I will see if I can go out and find that Marmon Sixteen again. Or are we limited in our legal coverage to misdemeanors as opposed to felonies?
Walking? Oh, heavens, you’ll have to fire me if I start walking. I’m just far enough out of town that if I walk all I will see is cattle and trees. While it’s hard to gauge, I’m not sure too many here would want to see a
“Cowpatty Classic.”
However, if you are giving us all a Slim Jim, that’s a little protein to make the deplorable walk into town.
In a more serious vein, thank you. I have been totally unable to load pictures the last couple of days without error messages.
Will a top-rated defense lawyer from the area be included in the CC company car package (CCCCP)?
I like to think of CC as analogous to the ‘slow food’ movement.
You sometimes need to let it simmer for a long time, but the results are always worthwhile 🙂
Reminds me of a cool little restaurant in Lanark, IL, which had this written on the menu: Good food takes time, please be patient.
And their food was good, especially their prime rib on Saturday night, and their baked cod with drawn butter. Sadly, they closed their doors about ten years ago, but we enjoyed many great meals there!
Paul, have you decided the new WP theme for CC yet or not?
Yes. And I’ve forgotten its name. It’s a very generic one that they are customizing for us. It’s not going to be a big change; just some sprucing up.
Yay! Hopefully this will help the mobile site too
This site works flawless on my Android tablet, unlike the Gawker sites which are totally a P.O.S. (yes, I am speaking to you, Jalopnik). Glad to hear it can only be better 🙂
PS: With all the money Gawker has, you’d think they could pay someone to make their sites run flawlessly on tablets.
Jalopnik is a wonky site to get onto but usually worth it. It actually worked better when Sandy hit the coast than it currently does!
Don’t forget the transmission and the axle or all the HP might never get to the ground.
While I have some occaisonal problems with the site not loading, I will always try again a little later and it works. I thought it was because my phone is older (galaxy s2). Wirth the wait each and everytime. Thanks for a great site.
