Something you rarely see is farm and construction machinery in a non-factory color scheme. Usually, contractors simply have a decal with their name and logo applied onto the equipment they ordered and call it a day. The owner of this combination decided otherwise, which resulted in a striking, all-black Deere.
The 6175R has an inline-six, 6.8 liter (415 c.i.) John Deere PowerTech PVS engine. Turbocharged and aftercooled, 175 hp plus 40 hp boost.
That’s more than adequate in the earth-moving business. Besides farming, powerful AWD tractors also thrive in that line of work.

As a matter of fact, two identical John Deeres were painted black and their maiden voyage was caught on camera. Evidently, powerful AWD tractors also thrive on asphalt. (video made and posted on YouTube by Adriaan van Hattum)

Great looking fleet! Black is always a very distinctive, and popular choice, for a brand colour. When the LA Kings hockey team changed their brand colours from purple and gold, to black and silver, merchandise sales went through the roof.
Some of my favorite tractors are non-standard colors, like these demonstrator IHs:

Love that International!
Black is a stunning color when clean. Unfortunately, it shows every scratch, ding, and speck of dust, which I suspect is why you don’t often see it in commercial use.
At the DOT we did at one time require new equipment to be painted orange. Theft deterrent was one issue, visibility was another. Then the other piece was the requirement that it was painted orange at the time of manufacture to eliminate the crappy respray paint job that looked like crap within a year or two. The requirement was dropped eventually because of the lead time involved. Need a grader or a skid loader now, good luck. So back to buying what ever the manufacturer’s stand paint scheme is.
Have never seen any farm equipment in black – great find Johannes…
Another IH (sorta) demo tractor, this one in black: https://www.monroetractor.com/the-case-ih-demonstrator-black-knight-magnum/
These Deeres were repainted, but sometimes a manufacturer offers a limited edition in black straight from the factory, see the Deutz-Fahr “Warrior” below. And I remember Fendt offered a Black Edition for a while.
This may be just fabrication, but I thought I had read/heard somewhere that at one time, Deere and would paint a tractor any color the customer might want, with the caveat being that anything besides the standard green and yellow, industrial yellow, or highway orange would cost extra and take more time. So very few buyers actually took them up on that offer. One notable exception to this was the short-lived Patio series of lawn tractors, which had 5 different color choices.
The only multi-color tractor brand I know is Valmet/Valtra. Multiple colors on a permanent basis, not just a limited edition now and then.
So I been runnin a JD 5075e for a while, and it’s done alright, but I’m curious how it stacks up against the 6175R. Some folks say the 6175R’s better on fuel, but I seen on https://www.allmachines.com/tractors/john-deere-5075e that the 5075 is better with heavy work. Anybody here actually used both? Just trying to get the real scoop—appreciate it!
