So just how many CC readers are there in Eugene? I know there’s at least two, and both their names are Mike, and they’re going to be at Sam Bond’s Garage (where else?) on Saturday at 6 PM, along with me, to celebrate CC’s second birthday. Any others? Come look for us; I’m pretty easy to spot: tall, grumpy-looking guy.
CC Meet-Up This Saturday At Sam Bond’s Garage
– Posted on February 13, 2013
Oh come on. I know you smile.
Id love to go but Sams garage is slightly out of my orbit.
So close but yet so far. I’m in the Spokane area this week.
I forgot to bring my camera too. This is like shooting CC fish in a barrel..
Have a good time.
Dang, had it been Easter Weekend, I would have driven the 700 km and joined the fun!
Congrats to Paul and the CC team. I’m fairly new and assumed CC had been around longer than two years, it has a nice polished feel.
One of the many things I like are the pics from around the country. Paul if you keep posting shots like the one above you can look forward to having more neighbors there in OR.
Darn it, I’m going have to visit Eugene at some point. I spent a week in Bend about 2 1/2 years ago and loved it. Eugene is a bit more lush in vegetation, so that’s more up my alley.
Oh, and there are several good CC’s still cruising around Bend.
Yes there are. I spotted this one sitting by the side of 97 near downtown….
If I ever get my ’57 Handyman running and go on a cross-country trip, I’m coming too!
Lets see, it’s a ten minute walk, and I know all the bartenders, and I’m unemployed.
Decisions, decisions…
I know where is Pierre’s garage, Richard’s garage and Luke’s garage. But where is Sam’s garage ??
Lily & I will be at the coast for Valentine’s. Prost!
Aww c’mon. We need a Mike Triumvirate. I’ll buy you both a beer!
Sorry, stuck at home for the next few weeks (although I would love to celebrate CC’s 2nd B-Day with you and all other contributors).
Congrats on the 2 year mark. I’ve really enjoyed reading about all the strange and wonderful cars. I think I originally stumbled across the series on TTAC.
At any rate I don’t think I’ll make the celebration. According to MapQuest, it’s only a 28 hour drive.
Just a bit out of my way…Eugene’s no doubt as bucolic as my Chippewa Falls, but there’s 1935 miles between us.
In Chippewa Falls do they have a statue of their native son, the great computer engineer Seymour Cray? He created the most powerful supercomputers the world had ever seen.
They do have a Seymour Cray Boulevard, which circles the (mostly-undeveloped) relatively-new Industrial Park.
I never put the name together with the Cray Computer. I’m really but a newcomer here…thought I’d stay awhile, although it’s looking like it’ll be the road for me again soon. Nice area here though…for an older person. Clean…safe…laid-back…good neighbors.
So when are we going to have the Michigan gathering???
Invite me to that! I could probably go there easily!
I’d be in for that, would even bring one of my CCs!
I think a Midwestern CC meet would be cool. I might be able to make one of those! The Antique Car Museum of Iowa is in Coralville and there is a nice bar across the street at the Marriott. Just a thought…
I might be tempted to fly out for that. Haven’t seen IC for several decades. Maybe in late April/May? (before it gets too hot? :))
We have some great CC candidates in Reinbeck, not far from there. And in such a German town, we do have some wonderful craft beer at the local micro-brewery.
6 1/2 hours is more do-able, especially if we could get PN to venture beyond the Rockies. I just checked – May 11th is the 2 yr anniversary of my first CC contribution. Just sayin. 🙂
We’ll be there (just confirmed it with my Valentine). May 11th. But we better announce it with more lead time than the Eugene meetup!
That might be doable for me… Looks like about three hours from here.
I had to look it up to find out it’s not actually………….a garage!
I think I can probably be there with my ’81 Bonneville Safari.
Hey Paul, could you throw up another reminder on Saturday?
I had a Pontiac Safari too! Hope to see you there Saturday!
It’s a great pub. I’m there a few times a week nowadays. Lots of old garage tools and gears are used in the fixtures and on the walls. It really was Sam Bond’s Garage for many years; there’s a picture of him next to the front door.
The forecast is a high of 45 with a 50% chance of rain, although they keep it plenty warm inside. Nice big outdoor area with tables and trees, with a lot of it covered. Where would you be coming from, Marshall?
Springfield…….
The Pontiac might make it, then. 😀
Never been to Oregon, not gonna be able to make it happen this weekend, but maybe someday.
I’d love to go, but I moved from Eugene to Portland in September. Would have been another Mike there. My 71 superbeetle is still in the neighborhood, at a friend’s house. It’s the orange one with fat lip rivieras and a plaid decklid.
I’d love to come but Google Maps tells me it is a 14 hour drive each way!
Prices on last minute tickets from BWI are outragous! Sorry, can’t make it. Someone buy Paul a beer for me. He has plenty to celebrate including two years of CC, his youngest’s birthday, his lovely Valentine (Stephanie), and his own recent milestone birthday. Cheers Paul!!
Alas, my work schedule precludes me from traveling too far in the spring.
So, I am going to throw this out there…
Southeastern Michigan has a treasure trove of wonderful car-themed establishments and attractions that are worth seeing.
Or…
How about Auburn, Indiana??? The Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Museum is a beautiful place.
As of right now, I am seriously considering trying to make the Oldsmobile Homecoming in Lansing in June. Now that I have an Olds again, I really want to get back “in the community”.
Anyways, if anyone thinks a summer meeting in this part of the country might be doable, I would be up for scouting out and working on an event for everyone.
Now you’re talking. I’ve driven by that museum so many times in the middle of the night and never when it’s open.
Would make a great motorcycle trip.
We need a Sam’s Garage in Sarasota, FL. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to drink beers King of the Hill style in my own garage.
Damn, wish I’d found out one day earlier. I’m in Eugene, read this regularly, and you’ve photo’s at least two of my very own cars. Dammit, when’s the next meetup? Surely sooner than a year.
Woah, woah, back up….
Which cars?
And I’m not at all surprised, Paul has blanketed Eugene like a virus.
