Back row, from left: first-generation Miata (I have a ’97, equally red), VW Rabbit (perfect shade of pistachio), a CamCord (more Cordy than Cammy, but generic nonetheless), a Jetta (?), something Saaberrific, something Gray (Geo Prizm?), and finally a Car that Happens to be Blue.
Front row: two of the General’s finest. And whitest. An ’88 Eldo and one of the many Cutlass siblings?
In the fore ground is a 95-96 Buick Regal with the 3100(no 3800 badging) and a 86-91 Caddy Eldo
Behind them are the following left to right: Miata, VW Rabbit, 98-02 Honda Accord, VW Jetta, Saab 900(aka the good Saab), 96-00 Honda Civic, 01-05 Honda Civic(probably a 03-05 as it has a longer snout)
Behind those are: Toyota Echo, What looks like a Kia Rio, What looks like a Kia Sedona minivan, Acura TL, an SUV(perhaps a Hyundai Santa Fe?), 93-98 Corolla, a 1990-1993 Honda Accord Sedan, a 1990-1993 Honda Accord SW
Behind those is a Isuzu Trooper(81-91), what looks like a 4 door Toyota Echo, some minibus and what looks like a Celica convertible( 85-89)
I think the “van” thing backing out is a first gen Highlander (“think”, this is the vehicle I’m least sure about in the whole picture, sooo generic), the “SUV” is a 2010+ Outback, and the white convertible parallel parked is an E36 BMW.
And I’ll add: I believe the 2 vehicles across the street visible just behind the bus are a 2000+ Saturn SL and 95-99 Sentra. Also the red sedan parallel parked in front of the Trooper reeks of Cobalt to me.
I would say the Regal is older, probably 1990-1992, that odd high beltline/door guard was found on the earlier Custom trim level Regals, chrome rocker moldings were found on the Limited trim level. The dash is the flat 1988-1994 “instruments in a trough” style dash before a passenger airbag was added.
What are the yellow things across the dash on the Regal?
Peeps?
How festive.
The Eldorado is at least a 1988 or newer, it has the peaked fenders that came out to try to repair the disastrous 1986 design with some 1979-1985 styling cues. No landau vinyl top means its not a Biarritz
On that Regal:
Anybody else see styling similarities (intentional or not) with the NSU Ro 80? Especially the greenhouse, but also the front end and general proportions?
Maybe I’m just nuts.
This is a recent pic? Was is completely random, or did you take this because of the high CC count? If representative of a typical parking lot in 2014, then Eugene really is the land of CC’s! There’s hardly any cars less than ten years old, and interestingly almost all are CARS. Around these parts in suburban TX, you won’t find a typical parking lot without AT LEAST 50% pickups and/or large SUVs. In fact, more typical would be a lot with as many cars as there are non-cars in your shot.
Maybe a couple of years old, like three. Random? I don’t take random shots. When I see a healthy variety of cars in one place, that triggers my trigger finger.
I’m thinking this scene has a college/university feel to it, based on the look of the buildings, the shuttle bus, the large number of older, cheaper vehicles and the many bumper stickers visible on rear ends. Also the peeps on the dashboard. What is the maximum age that somebody would do that at?
Background: Jeep Grand Cherokee, BMW 3-series convertible, old people bus (Ford Econoline based), Toyota Echo, Hyundai Accent?, Honda Odyssey?, Acura TL, Nissan Rogue, Toyota Corolla, Honda Accord, Honda Accord wagon, Izuzu something.
Interesting Rabbit. Was that a standard VW color or is it a Westmoreland-built Rabbit bought for the Forest Service under some Carter-era austerity program?
I’d say that the 1980 color “Mountain Green” comes pretty close. (Click on the camera for a picture of a real car with that color) http://mk1vw.info/paint1.php
Answered my question. I remember the Feds buying a lot of (relatively) smaller cars in those days (stripped down AMC Concords and Ford Fairmonts in particular), but nothing THAT small!
That color is almost a dead ringer for US Forest Service green. Thanks Johannes.

I will bite.

I’ll agree about 90%.

They both do have the beltline “swoop” down and kind of bulldog noses.
Could be Oregon Ducks, that team is huge even up here in Portland.
I also see a first generation Grand Cherokee, I think there is also a third generation Sentra, and the convertible looks like a 3 series BMW!?
No. But I counted 27 vehicles.
Cadillac Eldorado, Buick Regal, 1st gen Mazda Miata, 1st gen Volkswagen Rabbit/Golf, a more recent Volkswagen Jetta, 1980s Saab 900.

Eugene is home to the University of Oregon, but this isn’t close to the campus. It’s near downtown, near the Eugene Library in the background.
Yep – probably a 91ish Regal. I have a 95 that looks subtly different. No Peeps either.
Front row: 88-91 Cadillac Eldorado, 91-92 Buick Regal
Back Row: Mazda Miata, VW Rabbit, 98-99 Honda Accord, VW Jetta, 80s Saab, unknown, 03-04 Honda Civic.
Background: Jeep Grand Cherokee, BMW 3-series convertible, old people bus (Ford Econoline based), Toyota Echo, Hyundai Accent?, Honda Odyssey?, Acura TL, Nissan Rogue, Toyota Corolla, Honda Accord, Honda Accord wagon, Izuzu something.
All from left to right
The only interesting car is the SAAB 900 !
Agreed. Probably a 92/93. I always liked that color.
