In addition to collecting full sets of shots for future Curbside Classics, I also shoot random driveway scenes as I roll (or walk) by. Here’s a rather nice little collection. Oh, but wait, there’s another one on the other side of the driveway…
…and all in such nice shape. Must be something in our air. Or rain.
If it wasn’t for the truck I’d say… “Sedan City.”
Wow, is that a Somerset?
Close. From 1985-87 Somersets were the coupes and Skylarks were the sedans. Starting in ’88 they all became Skylarks.
Is that an Acura Legend? I have not seen one of those in eons.
Was the house painted to go with the truck?
I wanted one of these “Little Limosines” as Buick marketed them. Unfortunately
I came across the Grand Am First. I always wondered if the Buick Skylarks were any better built.
That Legend looks like a better made Caprice of its day. Perhaps this was the look Chevrolet was trying for when they prepared the 1991 Models.
To me, the Legend actually looks more like a 1992-1997 Cadillac Seville, a good-looking car in itself and one of my favorite 1990s GM designs. Even the redesigned 1998-2004 Seville had very similar styling. Both Sevilles had a more squared-off front end than the Legend, but I wonder if the Legend was one of GM’s inspirations for that design.
Love the Son of Dat pickup!
Okay, Jordan beat me to it, but that sure looks like a Somerset Regal to me, too! Am I alone in liking these odd-sized GM cars of the 80’s? The Somerset was my favorite of all of them.
No, I couldn’t afford one of those at the time, either!
GM N-body cars FTW!!! Still patiently waiting for a review of the GM 1st generation N-body cars (Olds Calais, Pontiac Grand-Am, Buick Somerset/Skylark). The platform was developed by Oldsmobile (per Wikipedia). I have a soft spot for that platform, as I drove and wrenched on my dad’s ’85 Calais Supreme as a teenager. If memory serves correctly they were pretty common in the mid to late ’80s (Grand-Ams were what I remember seeing the most of in and around Los Angeles)…
For the life of me, I couldn’t think of the Olds model – I need to add that to my Buick above, as both of these were my favorites.
Half-way roll-down back windows be hanged, they were still cool cars and appeared to do their job well, judging by how popular they must have been, as I sure saw lots of them.
I do recall the Pontiac version and so many Yuppies buying them, as with that small split grille, they resemble BMW’s! I just laughed and enjoyed my small collection of Chrysler vehicles I owned at the time.
Are you thinking of the Calais? Or was it Cutlass Calais? I don’t remember. I still think of Calais as being the cheap Caddy of the 60s with the crank windows.
