This Tobacco and Vapors shop has a powerful magnetic force-field that very old Chevy subcompacts just can’t resist. The last time, it was a Chevette. This time, it’s a Chevy Sprint (Suzuki Cultus). The question is: were both driven by the same owner, who replaced the Chevette with the Sprint? Seems reasonably likely enough. Here’s the Chevette:
It does look like it might well have been on its last legs. Looks like the prices of smokes has gone up in the past year…no wonder they drive a cheap car.
Wow, $31/carton. I’m glad I quit smoking 25 years ago, I could never afford it now. Or maybe I could if I drove something like this.
Expensive coffin nails.
I suspect the Chevette was a heavy smoker!! That is one sorry looking Chevette and that’s saying a lot!!
While the Chevy looks good that license plate is somewhat trashed and one of the worst Oregon ones I have seen. Wonder if cleaning it would help?
I doubt it. The Scotchlite coating has probably disintegrated.
50 a carton at the The Rez in AZ. Stopped smoking years ago, but have friends that still do. There’s a place with a drive up window near the casino. Should be a good spot for CC activity.
I owned a 93 Geo Metro XFi (pretty much the same car) for a long long time as my commuter. It was an outrageously dependable car considering how much I got it for, love those little 3 cylinder things! 45mpg all day long!
There are now 2 different Geo convertibles for sale near me, both have 130K + miles. According to the Craigslist ads, one is an auto, the other a manual.
Saw a 4 door Chevette with auto a few weeks ago at a local Target, it may be the last running Chevette in North Florida.
Strangely, these Sprints are almost all gone.
WoW!!! First to comment. Chevettes were ok, the Sprint…..IDK!
Suzuki Swift or Holden Barina badged here, those little puddle jumpers are getting rare though.
The chevy sprint was an amazing little car.
My brother owned a Sprint and loved it!
I remember him telling me that he revved it like he was driving a motorcycle 🙂
…or MAYBE the lad(s) just likes these old subcompacts… If you’ll have a chance to take a shot when a Daewoo made 1988-1993 Pontiac Le_Mans OR a 1985-1988 NUMMI Chevy Nova shall (shall?) appear in that parking lot… Please return to this article and add few pics if possible… Thanks in advance… 🙂
I have owned both of those cars. The Chevette was a dire mistake and I wish I still had the excellent Sprint.
These lil’ subcompacts did not fit really the major North-American markets at all. These were much more applicable for the European and 3rd world markets. For instance the Chevette/T-1000~Acadian had been a huge success story in the U.K. and continental europe as (also) Chevette by Vauxhall and Opel Kadett-C series. The most successful were the 1.0 and 1.2 Litre IL4 OHV gasoline engined models with 4 speed manual transmission… This kind of Chevrolet Sprints had been appeared as early Suzuki Swifts… But of course I do prefer the North-Am Sprint in comparison with the Swift… Opel had made some experiments with the so called “OSV 40” at that time which was a supercharged experimental kinda “Chevette/Kadett-C”… https://www.google.de/search?q=osv+40&biw=1024&bih=635&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAWoVChMIz5bP5vnzxwIVgm8UCh3vJACt
This article shall concretely explain the Chevette’s (Kadett-C’s) revolutionary step in establishing the modern safety concept of automotive industry: http://www.opel.com/news/index/2014/09/40_years_of_opel_safety_vehicle.html Useful to read it and learn…
So please don’t neglect the Chevette/T-1000~Acadian/Kadett-C…
