Nothing like a good strong walk to revive the spirits, especially when you take a different route and find a couple of characters you’ve never seen before. These two somehow struck me as an odd pairing, although for no really particular reason. I remember a comment from a couple of days ago yearning for a gen1 E-Line, so here it is. Looking at these two, I got to thinking: are they really so odd? What do they share in common? There must be something..
The closest I could come up with was that the Quantum had 2.2 L engine, and the original Econoline had a 2.3 L (144 CID) engine. Is there something closer than that?
The first thing that came to mind was ‘utility’
Hey same that’s the same thought I had! True utility with none of the “sport” b.s.
I’m thinking you’ve both got it. Straightforward utility.
Of course I looked at the license plates – the older vehicle has brand-new plates; the other one has what looks like original-from-new ones. Nothing there.
The Quantum has a beam axel in the back. The Econoline has a beam axel in the front.
They both have four wheels *rimshot*
Hm… They could both be equipped with three-speed transmissions (although the E-line would be a shift-it-yourself and the Quantum would be an auto).
In-line water-cooled engine, mounted longitudinally ahead of the front wheels.
Single headlights.
