Here’s another one from my Uncle Dave, our Iowa City-based Outtake provider. He was in Paris, TN on business earlier this week and was checking into his hotel when this very red early ’90s Volvo 240 pulled up right in front of him. What else could he do but take a photo?
Bright red was a factory color on these, but was not seen very frequently. It looks good though!
That’s the second RED! OVLOV I’ve seen now. Both in pics and never in the wild.
Heck, that may be the only 200 series I’ve seen that wasn’t light blue or silver.
I wonder how a 780 would look in that color.
I’ve seen a red 780 in traffic in Seattle and they look good.
When I was a kid before the internet, I wondered if the 780 had a V8. That’d be a decent LSx swap candidate.
I just saw one of these today-just gorgeous!
I can’t see the front end on that 240, but that is definitely a 1992 or 1993 model. In ’92, the exterior door handles were painted black, and the grille went to an all-black style. In ’93, the grille went back to having a chrome border.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who stores these nerdy details in my brain. :^)
Usually, by the time a red car is that old the paint has faded. My guess would be that this one was waxed regularly and garaged.
You could tell the color on the trunk has shifted toward dull pinkish red…
Nice red 1986 240GL that was for sale here on trademe a couple weeks ago. Needed a little tidying but at NZ$500 it was an absolute bargain:
My best friend’s mom drove a bright red 240 just like that one back when I was 12 or 13, in 1993-94…the car must have been a year or 2 old, but even at the time I remember thinkin that it looked like an old car…in a good way.
When we bought our first home in 2002, we followed our realtor on the Freeway in a RED Volvo Station Wagon, that had huge Taillights.
These headrests always looked like they could do some damage.
The only person I knew who drove a Volvo was my Brother’s first wife. She was Not a very good driver. I fear for my young life as she Drove and Talked on and On about everything but the Oncoming traffic.
i Loved the Colors Volvo Offered on the V70 Convertibles of a few years ago… such as “Saffron Yellow”.
The Volvo I liked was The Bertone coupe and the 760 Sedan was it…whatever had leather and bells/whistles/// power comfy seats.
