Some of you more visually acute readers might have noticed that the tags on the Cressida wagon in today’s CC were from 2010, which is when I shot it (or in 2009). So when I saw what I thought was the same car last Friday night, I thought I ‘d peel off a quick shot confirming that it’s still in daily use. But a closer look tells me it’s not the same one. Which explains why I keep seeing brown Cressida woody wagons so regularly around town; there’s more than one! Who would have thought? So here’s brown Cressida woody wagon #2, next to a more current version of a “Toyota” wagon. They should offer a woody version of it.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Cressida that wasn’t brown.
Most of our Mk I Cressidas seemed to be maroon. Although the only one on trademe today is of course brown, disproving my theory…! Most of our Mk IIs seemed to be gold, most MK IIIs pink, and Mk IVs light blue. Or so it seemed at the time!
My, how cars have grown. The left one is one of the smallest Toyota currently on sale, and the other was one of its biggest model back then!
They must have switched around 81-82 to grey because every Cressida I have seen from then on was grey.
Quite right; the xB look like a truck compared to the Cressida. It also shows how much higher beltlines are. A spec comparison would be interesting.
They do.
A wooden shoe.
The size comparison is amazing. I was at the Atlanta Auto Show last week. There was a comparison display were a number of older classic cars were parked next to the new versions. It was amazing to see how the new Mustang dwarfs a 69 model (not exactly small) and likewise with the new Challenger compared to a 1973 model. Other examples were there but those two really stood out.
Those shoe shaped Toyotas arent all that small I had a look at one the interior is big but we get them with all the different names ex JDM havent seen a lexus badged one yet but give them time.
Wow! That scion really dwarfs the wagon. I haven’t seen a Gen1 Cressida in ages, but I have seen a couple woody Corolla wagons still hanging in there
