My uncle, who travels a lot for business, sent me these photos of a 1970s Ford Bronco that he saw at the Union Pacific Railyard in North Platte, NE.
There appears to be a similar vintage F100 parked next to it. This Bronco looks to be very well maintained, and with those custom hood scoops, I can’t help but wonder what’s under the hood.
Looks well preserved, not a fan of the color though.
You could say early Broncos are the reason I’m a Scout guy. I always wanted one but they are just too expensive. For the price of a halfway reasonable Bronco I can buy a couple of decent Scouts and parts trucks. Plus after having a 1950 Ford F1 the previous owner had sat on a 72 1210 Travelall chassis (the F1 had a blown motor and the T-all was seriously rusted) I found out just how tough the SV [IH speak for Small V(8)] was and that it really was an engine designed for a MD truck stuffed in a LD vehicle. So no even though I’m a Ford guy at heart these just aren’t on my wish list anymore, though I still admire them.
I love it!
I think that F-100’s grill is more mid-70s
1973-79 Ford pickups had the turn signals above the headlights, fyi.
That’s a 73-75 F series and a 70-76 Bronco (77 Broncs had the rear marker lights flipped 180*)
Nice rigs, I’d love to find another late 70s F150 to beat on.
Nice Bronco. My mom is from NP and the Union Pacific Bailey Yard is a sight to behold.
Awesome color!
My son has spent the last three years restoring a ’68 Bronco… so far, he is in for over $30,000 with no end in sight.
My brother-in-law has a ’70 sitting in his driveway that was owned by his parents. Not sure when it was last driven–one of those “get it on the road Real Soon Now” projects. It’s been sitting for over 20 years, if I recall correctly. It’s pink.
I’ve thought about a V6 version with Explorer bits, but nah…
I’ve seen a couple of 1st gen Broncos around Klamath Falls, usually in summer.
