Is it because of our long gray winters? The presence of colorful painted cars here is undoubtedly higher than average. But then this gen5 Accord coupe is from Illinois. Maybe it’s because of Eugene’s reputation.
What more can I possibly add to these words of wisdom?
I blame clear coat. Once it fails, the cost to professionally repaint a car, even to Earl Schieb levels of quality, make it cost prohibitive. If you have a little artistic flair and enough courage to be seen in something like this, it makes sense. And, it beats a primer gray rattle can spray job that used to be seen on every 10 year old Camaro back in the 80s and 90s!
Coincidentally I was just watching a Documentary about Hippies on YouTube.as Reliable as these are,you should be seeing that around for next 20 years.
+1!
Good point! This paint job might not outlive it’s “canvas.” 😉

Only difference in long grey winters between the two is Eugene’s is warm enough for SAD residents to apply spray paint 😉
Nice catch indeed Paul. I have been tempted to paint teeth on my 1993 Camry like how they paint on military aircraft.
