I caught these two Hondas at Hobby Lobby last week. What is rather rare is catching two metallic mint green Hondas next to each other. It was never a popular color. The claims manager at my dad’s office once bought a ’92 Civic much like the one on the left for his wife in about 1997. It was near showroom condition, but he got a deal because–you guessed it–of the color. I rather like the color myself, but clearly buyers didn’t!

Hmm, I remember this as being an almost archetypical color for that generation of Accord, especially the wagons. My cousin had one. IIRC green was actually one of -if not the – most popular colors for a few years in the mid 90s. Our 98Grand Voyager was green. But that fad faded fast…
I enjoyed this color quite a bit as well. I don’t remember it being especially unpopular, but as it only lasted for 92 and 93, you’re probably right about it. It was restricted to Accord LXs only, and Civic DX and LX sedans only. Another color I quite liked was called (I think) rose quartz metallic which, on the 92 and 93 Civic LX sedan, came with a burgundy cloth interior. It’s odd to think Honda molded dash and door panels in that color for one trim level of one body style only.
A childhood friend got a brand new Accord LX coupe in Rosewood metallic with burgundy cloth in about ’92. That was a nice car! It replaced a circa 1987 Olds Firenza notchback coupe, white with blue interior.
My boss in one of the university departments I worked for had a ’92 Accord EX with the burgundy cloth interior–it was sort of a metallic tan with a rosy tint. Probably not the same color, but reasonably close.
I always did quite like this mint green too. Are you sure it was LX-only for the Accord though? The photographed one is wearing EX alloys…but I always thought the six-spoke was only available on the EX coupes so they may be retrofits.
In addition to being standard on EX coupe, those particular alloys came with the 1993 10th Anniversary Edition Accord sedan (which commemorated 10 years of Accord production at the Marysville, OH plant).
Our ’92 EX was that color – Honda called it Seattle Silver. We put up with it because it came with the burgundy interior.
Well those two look good for Midwestern Hondas and yea, I do not see that Mint Green too often.
Mint Green enjoyed a brief period of popularity in the early/mid-’90s. Besides Honda, Ford offered it on cars like the Thunderbird, Taurus, Explorer, and Windstar. Toyota also offered it on several cars. My former neighbor from my hometown owned a mint green ’95 Camry LE wagon. The last time I saw him, in 2012, he still was driving it.
Honda offered a brighter version on the Civic hatchback and coupe – looked like blue mouthwash in the same years, and one that looked like green mouthwash in the first couple years of the next generation.
There was a Honda dealer that had some brand new lightly damaged flood cars from 1992 they were still selling in late 1993 for a huge discount. The last 3 left were all the same color. There was one coupe and two sedans. My Uncle told me he looked at one of them but hated the color so he passed on it. A week later, a friend of mine pulls up in a mint green Accord LX coupe. Yup, the same car my uncle passed up. He had that car for over 200k miles until it was totaled by a drunk driver. I had a 1992 LX coupe in Rosewood metallic with the red interior, a car I loved. I also owned a 1993 EX 5-speed wagon in Seattle Silver with the red interior, the best car I have ever owned!
My grandmother’s last car was a mint green ’92 Civic DX like the one pictured, 5 speed manual.
My grandparents had an identical 92 civic, I liked playing with the buttons on the dash
A light minty green like this, and light blue, are becoming more popular on newer cars it seems, especially hybrids.
Hyundai has a light blue/green/grayish color on the regular Sonata’s that’s particularly attractive. As long as it’s not another silver or gray option, I’m all for it…
By the ’90s, I no longer cared anything about Hondas. The original Civic and Accord were cool little cars, but Hondas later bland generic styling lost me. Even today I would not take a really good deal on a new Honda anything. I have to have SOME kind of style.
My Dad’s ’97 Escort wagon was in this lovely shade of mint green… Like many have posted, got a great deal on it, because of the colour…
Nice shot — you’re right, this color doesn’t show up much anymore, and maybe never did! I like the color, although I associate more with late-70s GMs than Hondas. I feel like I saw it more on Accords than I ever did on Civics.
I have seen Civics in that colour before, but not an Accord. I prefer the cherry flavour to mint anyways.
I can’t help but notice how the Corolla dwarfs the Accord. It should never be like that.
Yep, the Corolla looks short and fat, while the two Hondas look sleek.
