Knowing this Countryman from so many encounters with Marvin over the years, I’d rather forgotten that it’s a bit unusual for our own country. As you can see, Marvin is running (again) for state representative. His little Mini makes a great mobile billboard.
I don’t know how long Marvin has owned it, but it’s been his as long as I can remember. It was once his company car for his lawn care products company, and it’s hauled plenty of sailing and boating equipment as well. So it’s no garage queen. Makes you happy just looking at it, doesn’t it?
My wife drives a MINI Clubman, which is the modern revival/evolution of this car…sort of wish they’d called it the Countryman, the actual modern Countryman is an abomination.
Awesome find! At first I thought it was a Kiwi photo, but then I noticed the Malibu (?) next to it, and realised it’s a Countryman far away from it’s native country, man. Very cool little thing!
I see these more often than you Michael but its a great find.
I bet he has a lot of fun seeing the 4-5 year old kids’ reactions when they see the Cars eyes!
They should have a “woody” option for the Clubman, like they did on the early PT Cruisers.
Nice find Michael.
That is the woody option, well not really an option because they all had the (tacked-on) timber framing. The van version was all metal.
I meant the current Mini Clubman.
my aunt still have one of these, but with no wood! A go-kart wagon !
A miracle it has survived the tin worm! Regular Minis are near impossible to prevent rust, I’d say the ash on the countryman would make em even worse. A great find, especially as it’s so original, so many have been messed about with.
