Well, you know I’ve got a thing for the painted cars of Eugene as well as grotty old motor homes, so how about both in one package? And a tarp for good measure. But this rig’s unusual front end makes it worthy too; this is not your standard Chevy van nose.
There were a few companies that bothered to put their own noses on these Chevy cutaways. Seems a lot of trouble to make it look a bit distinctive. This one certainly does.
I’m afraid identifying this one is way past my expertise, or even interest. Once upon a time i might have undertaken an Google search. Now I’ll just appreciate it for what it is, whatever it is.
That nose doesn’t look distinctive, just anonymous.
That front end sheet metal’s a mystery for sure. Why did the OEM even bother? Looks-wise, kinda “Meh!” Added front overhang, but likely no improvement in functionality. The standard Chevy van mechanicals are probably in their stock locations.
Always enjoy the art cars, er, RVs. 😉
I liked the Winnebago/Itasca ones from the late 70s with the medium duty Chevy grille.
Wow, no idea about that front end treatment. But it looks a lot like the kind of extended front ends that graced StepVans and UPS trucks for awhile. I could see the desire to eke another MPG or two out of one of these brick-shaped campers.
Headlights from a 1980 or so Chrysler Newport?
Interesting look.
David,
Good eye! I was trying to figure it out, but I think you nailed it. Someone did their best with a custom body. The hood fits a little odd in the center front and the side crease just sort of goes away, but overall better than I could do.
It looks like an “art house” in the background of the first picture
I thought this looked familiar! I spotted it in McMinnville, OR back in 2017!
Great catch!
I don’t know about the Chrysler headlights.
I was thinking the front end had a more than passing resemblance to a first generation Chevy Celebrity
They are similar looking but your Celebrity theory makes more sense.
The effort to return ratio on this one wasn’t very good.
And the wall of doors behind it is the perfect touch.
I’ve seen a couple of those in the past. I’m pretty sure it was fiberglass and I’d bet those headlights are GM. I’m sure that GM would make a deal on some part likes lights, for example the Trans-Van that used B-body Pontiac tail lights.
Looks like something parked in a Wal-Mart parking lot:-)
