With four wheels on the road, this 400-horsepower V10 Dodge Viper could easily outrun my 280-horsepower TSX, but as luck would have it, the Viper was a little tied up at the moment.
I absolutely loved these first generation Vipers as a kid. I had many car models of it in various sizes and multiple posters of it on my bedroom wall. They aren’t common sights out in public, so even seeing one in this context (in red, no less) made my day.
I don’t know if anyone is a fan or, at least, has the The Ninth Gate but Polanski inserted a Viper at the end of the film. Great scene where they are driving in France searching for a coven whereby looking for the highway exit and those brake lamps light up. Not a memorable scene to the masses but I love it. Loved that car as a kid, and still love it as an adult. It even looks great in red on a flatbed.
Dodge never quite recaptured the beauty of the original, first they squared it off and ruined it, and the newest one is ok but it looks more like a Ferrari copycat than the Viper I fell in love with.
Anyone remember the short lived Viper TV show? I thought that was the coolest show as a kid, kind of painful to revisit now though.
It might be too big, but I’d like a 300c (yes, not an S, but the blingy C) with one of those V10s crammed into it.
CC “pre” effect – saw one earlier this afternoon in Peoria…
Saw one here in Eugene recently. White with blue racing stripes. Looked great in the metal.
Sad to say, no big surprise. Another Chrysler product on a flatbed. I miss the 60’s and 70’s.
I’ve never been able to summon up much liking for the Viper roadsters. They always look to me like they were snapped in half in the middle, and then badly fitted back together.
The first generation coupes on the other hand, I absolutely love. Somehow the curve of the roof ties all the lines together and makes them work.
That, more than the track, is the natural environment of the Viper. Or any Mopar product, really. Compared to your TSX, thats sorta an example of the Tortoise and the Hare, isn’t it?
