This section of the Whiteaker neighborhood has been good for attracting CCs for quite some time. But as lots of older cars quietly slip away to their final destination, it’s currently become the best location in town. And what’s out her eon the street is not all; there’s more in the apartment lot behind the tree.
Yes, there’s a glimpse of it now.
Wow; that vinyl top is pretty hi-vis. What color was it originally? The same, but it’s faded some? Or?
I’ll take the Type 3.
I’ll take the Ram 50 with camper shell. That was my favorite trucklette from that era.
Probably the Mitsu ute and the VW are the best picks there there are still lots of those old L200s on the road here and I know someone in the VW nutter club locally who could source anything the square back needs, nice neighbourhood, my own is improving gradually my next door neighbour brought home a Mark three Zephyr recently unfortunately he built a shed to hide it in to work on it too but its one more classic that will be a driven car soon hes driven it around unregistered a bit and tells me its great fun to drive so I expect to see more of it once its legal.
I will stick to one of the German or Japanese cars in front of the house. I have never been able to shake the opinion that the 1980-84 Olds 88 with its sloping front and rear ends was shaped like a rubber sanding block.
And yes, those vinyl roofs turned some interesting colors as they disintegrated.
Brilliant!!
Perfect everybody so far, thanks for leaving the Trooper for me as my top pick! Metallic tobacco wouldn’t have been my first color choice back in the day, but now it’s looking good to me, on that one at least.
There’s a surprising number of that era Mitsubishi/Dodge pickups still working for a living (gardeners’/landscapers’ trucks) in our part of California.
A lovely Fall photo op there .
I too would choose the VW Typ II ‘ Variant ‘ ~ they were very good cars .

the 88 would be great!(couldn’t pass up the pun)
but something would have to be done with the top or colour. I couldn’t handle walking out to a car every day that immediately makes me think I need a antacid.
This photo really caught my eye. When I was younger, Dad bought a new yellow Ram 50 pickup. He then replaced that with a two tone burgundy/champagne Trooper II. Ironic.
Hmmm, if I was granted 3 choices, they would be:
1. Delta 88
2. Honda Accord (I’d lose the ghetto hubcaps but retain the steelies)
3. Ford F-150
About the Delta 88: I actually don’t like wire-wheel wheel covers, but I think they look good on that car. The rear window condensation is an interesting sight though. Hmm, well it would be a winter beater car anyway since B bodies are apparently good in the snow.
Those small Ram trucks are few and far between in my part of the country, so it’s good to see a well-kept example. And it’s been an eternity since I’ve seen a 4-door Trooper with round lamps. Nice roundup!
Looks like that Accord has received some rust repair.
