I was on my way to Strieter Lincoln for an oil change at about 9:45 this morning when I spotted this nice ’64 Electra 225 convertible while sitting at a red light in downtown Davenport. I couldn’t stop, but did manage to get this picture, with the historic Blackhawk Hotel in the background. What a great car to be enjoying on such a nice day!
So here’s to autumn; may you last well into December!
I’ve always liked the 1964 Buicks. My favourites are the Skylark and Special, the LeSabre, Wildcat and Electra 225.
I am just coming back from a joyride myself. Tailgaters were rolling into Ames, Iowa, getting ready for the game vs. the Baylor Bears. There were a number of beautiful cars. I spotted an early 60’s Jaguar S-Type, Mercedes Benz 450 convertible, Ford Model A hot rod. Of course several Mustangs came along.
We had the sunroof all open, all windows down, and our dog in the way back of our ’05 Pontiac Vibe.
I should have borrowed our friend’s ’78 all original Camaro and left the dog at home.
We ate dinner at the HB restaurant last night! Beauty of a find that car!
Much more appealing than the same year Chevrolet.
No way!Sooner have the Pontiac from the GM full size car range(this site’s made me a full size fan) than the rest of them. The 64 Chevys have been a long time favourite of mine.
I like this Buick better than a Cadillac but not as much as a Pontiac from 64 Being a non drinker.I drove a 4 door hardtop version of this car, dark blue with matching interior to Brighton Pride a few years ago with 5 LGBT friends.Great car for a good day out glad someone else was paying for gas at 12ish MPG!
My perfect fall cruiser was the 1966 Bonneville convertible that I first drove when I was 18 and the car was 9. For most of the late 1970s it served well for Vermont leaf trips.
Back in 1974, when I was in the used car business, I had a chance to buy a ’64 Electra 225 convertible for somewhere around $1200, if I recall correctly. Convertibles were out of style at that time, and could be bought for next to nothing. It was white with a red interior, low mileage and very clean. Of course I had no money, and no place to keep it. Ah, the lost opportunities of youth.
A beautiful car in a beautiful color — love it. I still have an AMT 1/25 scale model of a Wildcat convertible of the same year.
Very nice , I especially like the non ‘ resale ‘ color .

the 1964 ‘Deuce-and-a Quarter’ is beautiful driving car too – with the 425 nailhead V8 and the first year of the TH-400 three speed automatic, pure luxury…
At close to the same time I was watching the Comedians on TCM where the bad guys were giving Richard Burton a ride in a ’62 225 convertible (close to a cc effect) in black with gorgeous red interior. The movie is lame but it had some neat old cars including great shots of this Buick. Here’s a link to IMCDB:

One word for this Buick: elegant.
Like a previous poster, I prefer a 64 Wildcat or Le Sabre to a 225, they are just a bit sportier. Both are slightly better looking than a 64 Impala or Galaxie, but I would rather own a 64 Plymouth or Dodge for the novelty.
Can never go wrong with a “Four Holer”.
A beauty.
