Fall can be a fantastic time of year for car spotting. Many folks are giving their summer vehicles a final fling before winter hibernation and the changing leaves add some extra color to the background. This year the season seemed to last only a week or so before the snow rolled in but I did manage to stumble across a few nice trucks including this International KB-7.
A 1964 air-cooled Volkswagen double cap pickup offers classic good looks on a smaller scale. This desirable crew cab truck has been mildly customized with a lowered ride height and aftermarket wheels.
Volkswagen owners seem to love their accessories and the canvas bed covering adds balance to the looks of the truck.
We’ve had large with the International and small with the Volkswagen so perhaps we can call this Chevrolet C10 a medium. A four wheel drive model in nice “driver” condition.
Man, that International is one gorgeous truck, and I’m not even a truck guy. With the fall colors that is a wonderful shot.
Its bumper has a deck across the top, like an early 5 mph car bumper. I wonder why they did that instead of the usual chrome strip-type bumper?
I like the VW too, the canvas is perfect, except for the lowering and silly wheels. Why do people do that anyway?
That deck behind the bumper is just sheet metal. A place to mount foglights and license plate brackets, I suppose. It does give a nicely finished look to the front of the truck, and helps the large separately mounted headlights from looking like the items from a previous generation that they are.
My father had a KB11F that although it was a good deal larger truck had the same face as this fine-looking KB7.
Thanks. I just wish that Ram truck wasn’t so close behind.
Love the International. Dark red and black, always a perfect combination on classic conventional trucks.
Another dollop of BinderLove from me. That thing is beautiful.
The VW is really rare, at least where I live. The Chevy, those are seen occasionally around here, though more as nice old hobby trucks than as working beaters anymore.
So refreshing to see a really nice truck…………….. thank you.
Great pics David.
Glad that you managed to snap these before the heavy snowfall in Edmonton a few days ago. Now would they have spread road salt for this last storm, given that it was so mild?
No salt here and the snow has mostly melted but it was enough to chase away a lot of the classic cars.
Nice pics. But the International is WAY over restored. It looks like a big mac served in a 5 star restaurant.
Cool Chevy — No love for the others though: too shiny.
