Check out the contrast in the greenhouses of these two. I’ve sat in a gen6 Camaro and it feels like you’re in a submarine. A combination of style and safety regulations has made gun slit windows the norm.
I took a photo of a 5th gen sitting behind a 4th gen at a car show a couple weeks ago. The contrast was staggering.
Not to imply the 4th gen was the easiest thing to see out of itself, but It’s like one of GM’s famous beancounters sat down and said “We used too much glass on the last Camaro. We need to offset that cost this time.”
That freaks me out- claustrophobia, here you come. When my car was in the shop a few years ago, the loaner was a rented Mustang. They thought they were doing me a favor, but I had to swap it for something, anything less … coffinesque!
That particular GTI has been parking on the street in that area for over a decade now, and I’ve shot it a couple of times before. I never did a full CC on it, but it’s been used somewhere here, but I can’t find it now. But Eric has done a GTI CC and there’s some COALs in the German car archives.
I love that GTI! As a matter of fact I stumbled across a silver one on my local CL just last night that ran when parked with brake issues for $1500 obo. Rust free car from NM, paint has issues but how bad could it be 🙂

Paul, do you have more info on THAT Rabbit’s history?
I wish I had a new one like that….

Don’t know what their aerodynamics were like, but I would like to see that Volkswagen wheel design make a comeback.
Nice photo, it looks like a tiger about to eat a rabbit!
This could be the automotive equivalent of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.
I’d rather have the Rabbit. New Camaros are hideous, IMHO.
