Take a very frosty morning, some voluptuous curves and combine them with a seasonal red and you have the perfect automotive bauble to hang from the tree.
Chrysler? Well, the Lancia Beta cast a long, rusty shadow over the brand which withdrew from the UK market in 1994, so FCA badged the Ypsilon as a Chrysler over here. I suppose that grille does look a bit like the one on the PT Cruiser, so it sort of makes sense. It didn’t last long though as the Chrysler brand was withdrawn from the UK market in 2015.
Best wishes for the season, may 2023 bring you more cheer and many CC photo opportunities.
Nice catch! Quite a rarity here these days, they really weren’t that popular were they? Sold alongside the 300 and a rebranded Lancia Delta up until Chrysler pulled out of the UK.
Never too early in the year to learn about something new; I’d never heard of these before. It’s kind of endearing but strangely puffy, like someone hooked up a Fiat 500 to a compressed air tank for too long.
It is based on the 500 so, pretty much yes!
Influenced by nature?
Both good analogies; the styling does veer towards the comical.
If I recall priced as premium small cars. Looked like something Noddy would drive.
Not just in the UK were this generation of Lancias badged Chrysler, but Ireland and Japan also.
Looks like a PT Cruiser fetus.
Looks like the love child of a PT Cruiser and Nissan Juke.
Dont know what flag it sailed under here, FCA or whoever they are now did land again a friend of mine bought a Jeep and instantly regretted it, so I guess Lancia came along too
Was anyone willing to own up to this design, or was he fearful of future employment prospects?
Very much from the Ford Ka school of design, but maybe a bit too bubbly for its own good.
