This is not the first time I’ve shown you some unusual rear-wheel steering versions of common cars. There was this Civic CRX back in 2012. And there was this Cavalier in 2020. Now we have this Forte, which excels in rearwheel steering.
What’s the moral of these stories?
Don’t park on busy arterial streets.
“What’s the moral of these stories?”
Avoid cars with independent rear suspension? 🙂
Well… it’s okay to have a car with independent rear suspension, as long as it doesn’t get TOO independent.
Didn’t the Honda Prelude intentionally offer rear wheel steering when the car first debuted? I thought that was a thing, although I never understood the need nor benefit.
Peugeot and Citroen used a passive system for a long time since they share platforms its one if the reasons they will out corner almost anything else and how the Japanese rally hotrods Evos and WRXs stopped winning tarmac rallies.
I owned a Honda Prelude with 4 wheel steering. The car debuted in 1979. The 4WS debuted on the 3rd Gen car in 1988 and lasted until the 4th Gen, ending around 1995. The turning circle was reduced and the car handled amazingly well. It was just an expensive system to build and maintain.
That wheel is his own man.
He aims where he wants.
Has his own ideas about direction.
He used to be like all the other wheels.
Followed the others like he was expected to.
But he knew deep down something was wrong.
Then it hit him! (an F250 bumper)
Now they hear him coming.
The unleashed howl of freedom/treadwear.
He leaves his mark on the path he travels.
He is steadfast. Unalterable. Unyielding.
He will not go quietly.
Howl, Freedomwheel, howl.
See how the tire wear is even right across the tire? That shows that the tires are in proper alignment.
My Acura TLX has it. Makes turning a lot easier
I thought at first glance this to be a new model, facing forward, so the moral seems to be either that stylists of today no longer merit that description or that I need better glasses.
Jeeze ;
Come to Los Angeles and see the many cars like this hit by drunks late at night .
Or, early in the morning by the clock .

This happen to two of my neighbors in the same accident just before dawn. Both pickups were parked on the street and sideswiped by a distracted (ie: texting) driver. Both were totaled due to the amount of effort to rebuild the suspension and straighten the frame. The drivers car looked totaled as well. Fortunately, no injuries!!
Good thing the mirror is folded in.
Wouldn’t want damage.
