Eleven years ago, I shot this Scout sitting out front and looking hale and hearty. I posted it at the old site, and then later here. I ran into it again recently, and it’s now in the driveway rotting away with the garbage. I suppose it’s hardly a lost cause, as these were made out of cast iron. But still…
Here’s how it looked back then:
Sad, but not beyond salvageable. I’ve seen people in the rust belt start with much much worse.
Going back and looking at the other pictures in the first article makes me even sadder as it was in such good shape and nicely kept then.
Makes me want to come down and rescue it. Good thing it isn’t closer or a II, or I might be asking you for the address.
The top probably makes it look a lot worse than it is, the very fact that it’s there is actually a sign of care to protect the interior. Yank it off and give the body a good power washing would get it back to glory
This has the hallmark of a family member that moved away for school or something and then got a job in a city without much parking and left the Scout for when he eventually settles down somewhere and will restore it…someday. It’ll never be for sale due to the “memories” and the “future plan”…
Talk about CC effect! Just shot this an hour ago:
