I’ve owned two XJ Cherokees (1996 and 2001 – both 2wd) as well as two MJ Comanches (1991 and 1992 – both 2wd long bed models). All had the 4.0 liter six and automatic. We didn’t take them off road. They were used as daily drivers. I would be happy to have anyone of them back now. They were tough, dependable, and economical and, IMO, good looking.
Don’t mean to be CATTY π, but believe Subaru π€ is now using canines in ads. Guess just another indication that the automobile industry is going to the Dogs π π π! π
Jimβs right about his β96 & β01 XJs. Tough, dependable, economical and good looking as well. IMHO too. 400,000 on my β87 and 200,000 on my β96. Iβll never letβem go.
Almost 200k on my 96 4.0 5 speed. Just have some rust issues to take care of, but itβs worth keeping. Simple enough to work on. Countless replacement parts available at all levels.
Stock headlights are pretty weak, but just adding a relay harness makes a big difference too.
What is happening with that rear door? I’m seeing shades of the “If you can’t Duck it, ____ it” school of repair…
I’ve never been able to get a pet to hold still long enough to grab a photo after putting an amusing (probably only to myself and other humans) piece of clothing or accessory on them. About the best I got was sticking a Christmas bow on my old Persian cat’s head, which she let stay on for 5-8 seconds before peeling it off and leaving me behind.
Those LED headlights absolutely ruin the looks of an old classic.
On the plus side, I LOVE that rare Inferno 3rd gen access cab Tacoma in the background.
So are my eyes deceiving me or does that pooch have a night sleeping mask in satin blue on his face? I mean, how’s he gonna drive while wearing that?
It’s goggles. Believe it or not, there are companies that make goggles for dogs:
I’m surprised a dog would keep them on.
wow, the industries that cater to pets. You’d think animals were people! Though I know a lot of pet owners feel this way.
One of mine would gladly wear them if I explained that it was the only way he could ride. He’ll do anything to go on a ride.
(I’ve thought about getting Doggles – that’s one brand name – for him)

Nobody is gonna steal that Jeep.
