So here’s your chance to guess what car is sporting this fine looking hood scoop to feed the rip-snorting 600 hp monster residing beneath it. Since this isn’t for an upcoming CC, we’re going to give you instant gratification by showing the car after the jump. But guess first!
CC Outtake/Clue – Ram Air

No comment is right. yikes.
Ha! that’s a little incongruous. I’m guessing high school kid inherited grandma’s car and tried to make it cooler.
Late ’70s Impala.
*scrolls up*
Damn and blast!
Zounds. I made a custom NACA-style scoop for my ’82 Cavalier Type 10 (vacuum-formed ABS); it turned out a *little* better, I think…
Ed, that’s a nice effort. The car though reminds of an early Dodge Daytona. It looks like you were working with the smoked glass head lamp covers as I too was, back in the day!
They were a little *too* smoked. I usually had to take them off if I was going to do any night driving. I also made a smoked cover from the same plexiglas that went over the license plate in the rear. Got pulled over for that one, had to remove it on the spot.
Whoa, a seldom seen Type-10.
It is rather like Granny wearing the latest, flashy running shoes.
It’s not as bad as the twin stick-on monstrosities found at your favorite chain auto parts stores. Either way, this poor lil guy deserves better.
I suppose now would be a bad time to mention that I’ve considered buying a pair of the Lund Eclipse hood scoops for my truck? 🙂
Do you mean those Lund scoops that vaguely mimic the old Duster 340 hood scoops? If so, then yes, now would be a very bad time! 🙂
Whoever did that has a bright future . . . in the sheet metal business!
Snorkel air intake for deep water?
What is that brown thing it doesnt look like it needs a coldair intake.
Kinda like the guys in the Firenza wagon that pulled up to my house soliciting tree services. They assured me it was “just for looks”
Sweet! 🙂
So that was Mrs. Lundegaard on the floor in there. And I guess that was your accomplice in the wood chipper. And those three people in Brainerd. And for what? For a little bit of money. There’s more to life than a little money, you know. Don’t you know that? And here ya are, and it’s a beautiful day. Well, I just don’t understand it.
(Sorry, a reference with Oldsmobile and Tree Service in it made me think of that.)
On the contrary, when the electric fans kick on while sitting in traffic, that scoop will make a fine hot air vent!
It probably *was* a hot air vent in a previous life!
My first thought was, “The rooftop vent for my bathroom fan looks like that.”
The AMC SC/Rambler would be proud.
I think Jimmy’s mom is going to be ticked when she sees what he did with the vacuum cleaner attachment!
And by the way I thought it would be a Colonnade, despite the black windshield wipers…
It’s captured the pure essence of the 1970 Challenger T/A snorkel scoop. One can only wonder what powerplant lies underneath that menacing scoop! Probably something as ill tempered and high strung as that 1970 340 Six Pack, without doubt….
Wow a seldom seen Oldsmobile 234.
2.5 litre
3 speed automatic
4 doors.
This one also has the extra W69 Cold Air Induction package.
Things were tough for Dr.Oldsmobile after he lost his medical license.
Not only that, it’s an extra-rare 234 Brougham!
Too bad it isn’t a wagon!
Good Grief…..
That poor little Brougham 🙁
I was guessing Chevy Celebrity, so at least I had the platform correct………
