That’s a Calico. Calicos (girl kitty kats) are usually very friendly and loyal, and they are very good mousers. Reminds me to the 1949 Jimmy Liggins record “Cadillac Boogie”
One of our kittens once took a ride on the 302 of Dad’s 85 F150 for about a country mile. Dad stopped at a stop sign and the kitty figured out how to get down without getting killed. Dad said he’d never seen a cat move that fast as it made a bee-line for home.
My friend found a kitten in the underhood area of his F450. It had to have taken an a 15ish mile ride sitting on the frame pretty close to the exhaust of the 6.4.
“My poor stepmother snuffed out a lot of cats who could not resist napping near the fan blades of her Olds Cutlasses.”
Yeah. When I was a kid…we had a cat, stayed outdoors most of the time (it was legal and possible in those times) used to like sleeping under the hood of our Rambler. Somehow he never got wrapped up in belts or chopped into Chinese ham on the fan; but it couldn’t have been much fun for him, as he learned the progression of sounds that meant the car was going to be started.
You’d open the door and the cat would bolt like greased lightning. One would think he’d find a better place to sleep, especially since he could come in the house…but, no. He was contrary.
Sometimes my chevy sounds like a duck or goose. I just stop and let them clear out. Nothing strange about an animal using the shade but I bet it hadn’t been run for over an hour.
Got the same situation at my house: Manson and her son, Cringe, park under the xB all the time. They’re smart enough to move as soon as they hear me open the driver’s door.
With my Sara, it’s my tractor’s shade that’s appealing. I have to check carefully if the dogs are out and the tractor’s been sitting. In the garage, we keep the hoods open for the vehicles to discourage chipmunks. They can make a mess of air cleaner boxes, too, which is why the trucks have 1/4″ screening on the intakes.
What is this, Curbside Classics I Can Has Cheezburger Edition? Cool :). When my Rally Car is not rallying and is sitting in the garage it is one Smudgie’s (ginger tom cat) beds. He loves sleeping on top of it.
That’s how I wound up with my cat.
He’s a good boy, but he’s a little funny in the head.

“The cat really purrs, got eight kittens cryin’ . . . .”
