CC Reader Roger F. sent this in to me. And guess where he lives? LA, of course. And of course Steven King murdered John Lennon. Which means I don’t even have to go to his website and buy his book. Which is only five bucks. Wait a minute; why am I hawking this guy’s book?
Love the line on the bumper…
The front is still innocent of all these great conspiracies. And we haven’t said a thing about these old Toyota vans. Well, I’ve been covering them here from almost day one, and let’s just say they are still very common on the streets here in Eugene. They’re the original VW bus reinvanated, but a lot more durable.
Strange days indeed….
His Dodge van might be for accommodating book signings…
I read that as “Lemon Party Truth” and double-taked.
/don’t google that at work
Most random conspiracy theory I’ve ever heard of. Puts me in mind of Mad Libs:
“________________(proper noun, famous murder victim) KILLED ____________ (proper noun, somewhat famous other person)“
Someone needs his meds to be re-evaluated…or instated.
Mad (CC) Libs:
“Ralph Nader KILLED the Corvair!”
“GM KILLED Tesla Motors!”
“George Romney KILLED Studebaker!”
any others, guys?
funny ones, maybe?
“Respiratory failure KILLED T-Model Ford !”
Robert MacNamarra killed the Edsel
Don’t forget, video killed the radio star.
While scanning the front page, I thought for a moment it was going to say “LeMons Murder Truth”. Would have been an entirely different story.
Maybe the owner of this van simply has a very rich sense of humor.
Not likely, unfortunately.
Everyone knows that King only killed Lennon to stop the Knights Templar from unleashing the U812-t virus on Ireland.
I just googled it. Very, um, interesting.
Have a look at the last page of this guy’s website. He’s seriously delusional but what really surprises me is how many of these seriously delusional freaks there are running around. What causes so many of these guys (and it’s like 99% guys) to go off their rockers anyway? I have pleasant existence and don’t at all feel the government is out to get me…….
Which government though? In our country the government is out to get Rob Ford and can’t, so I think we’re pretty safe 😉
The problem with paranoia is that it. all. makes. sense….
Apparently the Toyota is too miniscule to write Johnny Dowd’s lyrics all over it.
There’s been a murder here today
See the blood stains on the wall
There’s been a murder here today
See the blood stains on the wall
There’s a body in the bedroom
And another one in the hall
(Oh Yeah)
There’s been a murder here today
(Murder)
It’s a terrible sight
One victim was black
The other one was white
(You know what I’m talkin’ about)
There’s been a murder here today
(Murder)
The weapon was a knife
The woman wore a wedding ring
I don’t think she was his wife
(I don’t think so)
There’s been a murder her today
A double homicide
(Murder)
I’m gonna find the killer
Don’t matter where he hides
(You got that right)
There’s been a murder here today
I got blood all over my shoes
Read about it in the paper
See it on the daily news
There’s been a murder here today
See the blood stains on the walls
There’s been a murder here today
See the blood stains on the walls
There’s a body in the bedroom
And another one in the hall
(Murder)
Murder
(scream)
Yeah, that tiny Toyota is just a poor choice to bring the message across properly. I remember seeing full-size vans with box bodies doing the same kind of duty, just with much, much more space for whatever gospel the owner wants to preach. Some even have huge billboards on them. If you want to spew some incoherent nonsense into the world, at least do it right!
What has he been taking? I’ve just read his site and struggled to keep a straight face
If this guy were serious, he would plaster his message on a 72 Chrysler Town & Country, like the one John Lennon actually owned. Using a Toyota minivan is just being lazy.
Okay, I will confess,
I once killed a six pack just to watch it die.
This nut has got it all wrong.
The CIA had Lennon killed.
OK I went to his webiste. Wow.
That’s the thing with the internet though. There’s no such thing as being too stupid. You can find support for any idea imagineable. It’s a bit scary.
Agreed.
Remember, if it’s on the Internets then it has to be true. it’s the law…
Sure, Steve did it– but he was put up to it by his brother B.B. King, who was upset that kids were listening to the Beatles instead of the Blues. Thus the plot thickens…
BB King was paid by Freddie & Albert King to put their Stephen up to the murder because John Lennon had discovered Robert Johnson was secretly still alive having really sold his soul to the devil at the crossroads all those years ago
Was it the devil? The way I hear it, it was JFK following Elvis’ bidding. 😉
The entire King Family played a role as well. Apparently they heard that John was considering a Christmas album project and a TV special, and they couldn’t stand the idea of competition. 😉
A few conspiracy-minded individuals have suggested that the murder was arranged by Yoko Ono. And, as much as I despise the arrogant, talentless, artistic fraud that Lennon married, the Yoko-did-it theory is ridiculous too. Although at least as his widow Ono would have more of a motive (her dead husband’s $$$, or should that be $$$$$$$$?) than Stephen King. Because King was, by 1980, already a highly successful author in his own right; and had managed to achieve his success without being party to murder. Sure, the guy writes about killing a lot, but he doesn’t actually go around doing it.
As for the van’s motto “It’s true or he’d sue”, it reminds me of The Amazing Criswell’s narration of Ed Wood’s Plan 9 From Outer Space, when he challenges the audience with the question “Can you prove it didn’t happen?” Well no, Criswell, because it’s not logically possible to prove a negative. More to the point, the onus shouldn’t be on viewers to provide proof of anything, when it is the movie, not the viewers, that’s making all the outlandish claims (about space aliens resurrecting dead people on Earth — a narrative only slightly more plausible than the one where Beatle John was offed by a bestselling suspense author). This approach is not “Innocent until proven guilty” but rather “Guilty until proven innocent.” Which makes the van owner not only a fool, but a fool with totalitarian tendencies.
What a waste of one of my favorite vans of all time. In fair shape for its age, too.
Ugh… *face palm*
When will some ever learn to accept the facts as they have been known since 1980?
I remember that night well. Sitting at my desk doing homework, listening to the radio on my stereo when the news broke around 9pm PDT, which would have been midnight in NY.
A shock to hear, even for a kid in Jr High who loved the Beatles, and was familiar with comeback album, which I like despite being shared with Yoko.
I was in high school at the time, and I came home to hear it on the radio. Still, why screw up a perfectly good van with whack-a-doodle nonsense when Lennon’s killer is off the street? I saw an old Toyota van here in Toronto last week. It was the first one I’d seen in a long time and it was in pretty good shape. It was painted silver with an extra window cut into the side…maybe it sees camper duty in the summer.
I was 23 just out of hospital after having my wisdom teeth extracted when something made me turn on the TV that morning.I immediately thought why? The only thing I agree with the author of the Stephen King theory is that the worst thing John Lennon did was take drugs and offend Christians. It was a senseless crime comited by a madman.I was never much of a Beatles fan,I preferred the Stones and by December 1980 I was into the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal(Motorhead,Judas Priest,Iron Maiden & Saxon were my favourites)
