Whether it’s obscure ancient European racers or one of the myriad JDM sub-models I’ve never seen or heard of before in my life, CC hunting in Tokyo never fails to surprise and, occasionally, delight. Piggy-in-the-middle here, however, has me well and truly stumped.
Yes, there’s a big chrome snout on that grille. And no, I haven’t the foggiest clue what this is, or why it is. I can’t even identify the pickup truck that it was based on, let alone the reason for hamming it up like this. Or the KFC roof ornament.
Left-hand drive, eh? The plot thickens. Looks more American than anything else, with that column shifter. Could also be Japanese re-imported from a LHD market. I’ve seen it before.
You have to admire the commitment to the bit, which extends to the rear end. Those lights will doubtless help someone in the CCommunity give us some clue as to the OEM. I’d hazard a guess myself, but odd are it’d be just a swine and a miss.
I apologize for being so utterly pig-ignorant, but this is way out of my pen…
Plenty of peace signs, stickers and extras, but only one license plate? How is that kosher?
Interesting structure on the bed, too. Could this be a work truck? A little online sleuthing has brought me to a website that looks promising – some older posts on it show a LHD Nissan NV2500 food truck with a highly modified body and… a chrome snout on the grille! Different truck, but some interesting similarities. Yep, someone is using this portly porcine pickup to bring home the bacon.
It’s an S-10 pickup (or the Isuzu clone).
Definitely an interesting S-10. My thought is that it was used by a BBQ stand when it was in the US. On the driver’s side that looks like a place to put an umbrella near the rear while the door near the front may be for reaching into an “ice box”. On the passenger side those brackets look like they could support a shelf where the condiments, plastic wear and napkins could sit.
Is that a pig face sewn into the front seat?
That’s some pretty impressive bodywork. Though the rear tailgate is a little too much for me. I think it came off an Isuzu Ham-bre.
It’s astonishing what has been inflicted on the S-10 platform, IIRC there’s a sort of imitation 32 Ford roadster kit based on the S-10 chassis, and the US Postal Service’s Grumman LLV vans have a lot of S-10 running gear
I remember quite a few “re-body” kits being offered for the S 10. It was also the period of “shoebox” retro styling kits for ’80’s T Birds and Cougars. A lot of these were advertised in the back pages of the hot rod and custom car magazines that I read at the time. This particular truck has had additional porcine enhancements.
I think you’ve found a rare second-generation version of this truck:
But seriously (OK… it’s impossible to actually talk seriously about a pig truck), I did find this X post from 2020 showing a picture of a seemingly identical truck to yours. Though, appropriately, in pink:

The comment on that post, and it’s accompanying link, indicates the truck was used by a children’s clothing store that may have had some kind of a pig theme. Or something like that… maybe some significant details are lost in translation… such as the KFC topper, which was also there in the 2020 picture.
A rare Mitsuoka KFC coup prototype inspired by the original 11 herbs and spices plus a heavy helping of that Grateful Dead herb.
With a good kick of shichimi togarashi too.
