I ran across this older shot of mine, and for some reason the big bulging hips on this Monte Carlo reminded me of the drum sticks on a turkey. And the color’s right too.
Maybe you see it; maybe you don’t. But either way, here’s wishing all our American friends a happy Thanksgiving, even if it doesn’t involve as many as usual. Stay safe and healthy.
Happy Thankgiving, everyone, and I suppose also a belated Happy Thanksgiving to our friends up North 🙂
With the limited amount of people gathering this year, we’re trying a couple different things since there’s no need to feed 20 people. Just finished the Beef Bourguignon from the old Julia Child cookbook for tomorrow, although we’ll also have a small turkey. And my wife is going to try making stuffing out of White Castle hamburgers. If anything, it’ll be interesting. Might as well make the most of it!
Happy Thanksgiving, Paul. Looks like a ’77. Gravy brown. Mmmmmmmm… gravy.
Haha, brown gravy is a perfect description for so many American cars of the 70s. Nobody will consider it a delicacy, but as comfort food it is without peer!
We are only two in the house this Thanksgiving, so a much smaller bird will be featured: a DUCK!
Happy Duck Day!
You’re not alone in that: we’re having duck today as well. We’ve made it once before for Thanksgiving too… it’s great, and there’s fewer leftovers.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
Save that duck fat! Mmmm, duck fat.
Yes! The fat is my favorite part of cooking a duck or goose.
The duck was delicious and we saved ALL the duck fat! It now joins the bacon fat next to the stove!
It’s a wonderful bird, but you see… it’s…uh…smiling at me.
Ahhh
Whack!
Take that bird out of the oven, she’s done
Happy Thanksgiving to our American friends, there is still lots to be thankful for 😌
Once Again: Paul and I agree on a car.
How sweet it is!
Happy Thanksgiving to all of the Yankees on the blog!
The Buick Regal is the same basic shape but without the exaggerated hips, I prefer the Regal inside and out.
So, do Canadians who move to the US celebrate Thanksgiving twice? That sounds like a pretty good life, actually.
Happy Thanksgiving to all – though I prefer my turkey with lots of stuffing. 🙂
A little off topic, but I can identify all the other vehicles (except the white sedan) on that side of the parking lot: 1994-01 Dodge Ram 2(3)500 Club Cab, 2nd-generation Honda Fit, 3rd-generation Dodge/Plymouth (Grand) Caravan/Voyager, Chevrolet HHR, & Toyota Previa. Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving to us all!
The white sedan looks to be a Mercury Tracer.
Happy Thanksgiving, caught sight of this Olds near Wallowa, Oregon yesterday.
Is that a 1970 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight? I think I remember seeing this car when I went to Wallowa Lake a year and a half ago.
Likely the same car! I was on my way back to Boise from Enterprise.
Happy Thanksgiving!
That angle of the Monte Carlo is not one of its best. I now have mixed feelings about these; my brother and I convinced our mother to buy the first year of this generation, the 1973 model. It was special-ordered, so had all the options we wanted (that is, it was lightly optioned in that my mother was not a big spender) — no vinyl roof, standard cloth bench seats, a/c, AM radio, 350 V8, THM350, crank windows. It looked good in dark blue with a matching interior.
Of course CC-in-scale has a turkey – er – Monte Carlo of this generation.
A happy thanksgiving to all!
The CC In Scale version looks better than the real thing!
Somehow the Buick version of this shared basic GM body was always a classier, more attractive car than the other variants.
