Wonder what that thing hit. My guess was a large hole, and when the wheels hit the back of it, the car pitched forward onto the hood. But since there doesn’t seem to be any roof or glass damage,…
I realize that this is completely out of character, but I would really like something like this for a winter beater. There is nothing quite so fun as something that is both intimidating and completely stupid.
found the photo of the 1971 Eldorado 4WD…Don’t know what frame was used… this was taken on Long Island in the late 1980’s I believe this is Centerport or East Northport. Too bad I couldn’t get a side view, without people..
Nice Hilux and Eurosport wagon! And do I see an ’86-’89 Volvo 740 Turbo off in the distance?
Oh, the Eldorado. Well, I guess someone had the idea of a luxury 4×4 well before the Escalade and Navigator came onto the scene. But those late ’90s SUVs were really just copying off the Jeep Grand Wagoneer…
This could have been Pontiac’s solution to save themselves: the Grand Ram. Just about every woman that bought a GA had a boyfriend who was into jacked up trucks; they could have had his-and-hers Grand Ams.
A year or so ago I saw a late ’80s Olds 88 done up in similar fashion, as it arrived at another nearby junkyard. Too bad I didn’t get a pic of that one… could have been Dr. Frankenstein meets Dr. Oldsmobile 🙂
back in the ’80s I used to see a jacked-up monster-ized black with gold trim ’76 Trans Am sitting in front of a motorcycle shop on route 23 in Riverdale NJ when my mom would drive us to my grandmothers. Never had a chance to stop and get a closer look. I wonder what happened to it?
Bonus points for using a 3/4-ton chassis!

It would be interesting parking this at the office.

That looks like Kings Park.

Hilarious. But of course the Grand Ram has to be a Dodge.
(Found this silly Photoshop by ‘TROOPER’ on chargerforums.com.)
The Grand Ram should be a Laramie 4×4 with landau top and opera lamps 🙂
it’s the prototype Grand Eagle, being removed while clearing out the old Pontiac warehouse.
